At first I wasn't interested in this release. Finger Eleven's promotion of the CD on their myspace bulletins made the album sound like a greatest hits sort of thing so i never looked into it. The other day at best buy i saw this release sitting there so just for laughs i picked it up and looked at the back cover... wow 14 unreleased tracks. needless to say i bought it quickly after that. the audio CD has 8 new songs (unreleased b-sides from their 2003 and 2007 albums) as well as 6 demo and alternate versions of tracks from their last 3 albums. The DVD has some music videos and live performances. The release is exclusive to Best Buy for some reason so i'm not sure if Amazon will ever have it. My only complaint with this release is that they could have easily included Slow Chemical and Sad Exchange which were both radio singles (at least where i live they were) and fan favourite non-album tracks. oh well.. at least it was less then 3-4 years since their last album before fans got some new material

Worth it for the DVD alone; for fans only though,

If they just released the DVD I would have been happier, but for the price I'll go with it.
I saw this package at HMV one day and because I love Finger Eleven and have seen them live twice, I bought this and checked it out. The package is both a CD and DVD, in a DVD case. The CD contains demos annd the DVD contains nearly 3 hours worth of Video material. Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, here's the pros and cons according to me: PROS: -The DVD has lots of videos to keep you interested, even a Rainbow Buttmonkeys video. -The first track off of the CD, Sacrifice, is awesome! It should have been included. -Rare performances on the DVD to be found -The interviews were quite cool -The DVD has all the videos CONS: -The Capital Ex Ed Fest show is not included. WHY???????? Finger Eleven were the best act at EF this year. They said they'd be recording it and eventually releasing it in the middle of the show. Please tell us it'll get released someday soon. I was at that show and it was one of the best shows of 2007 (The Strength in Numbers double concert with Sum 41 was better though, and is #5 on the best shows I've seen, with Ed Fest #7), and I was front row for about six songs until I got tired of the pit (so we went to the back). -The "One Thing" video is only the "Performance version". -Only half shows are included -The "Drag You Down" performance is TERRIBLE quality! -It's not hard to understand why the unreleased tracks on the CD were not released, they sure are filler. Really the only good track is "Sacrifice", the first track. The Paralyzer demo sounds like it was made by some kid in his basement wanking around with keyboards and what not. So overall, buy it if you're a fan, but just be aware of what I said, though. |
