I bought this product and put it on my desk at work. My first complaint is that the marigold seeds it came with never did germinate. Maybe they were old or something, I don't know. I dont think it was my fault, because I bought some other seeds and they sprouted in a couple of days in there. My only other complaint is that this product does not have "everything you need to grow plants". It comes with hydroponic soil. My plants sprouted and grew to inch or so tall seedlings and then stopped growing. By the end of the month all were dead. I didnt know what was wrong, then someone told me that the hydroponic soil doesnt have any nutrients in it whatsoever, so that nutrients can be tightly controlled by whoever is using it by adding liquid fertilizers. That being said, I dumped the hydroponic stuff and added some potting soil and the plants are growing just fine in there, just be ready to add some liquid plant food, or replace the hydroponic soil with potting soil or something else.

This is a great item considering this $4.99 greenhouse used to be $35.

As previous reviewers before me stated, the CD (software, drivers, and manual) seeds, and "potting soil" are garbage.

I'm currently growing 6 avocado seeds and after 1 week, half are sprouting. I generally leave it on 24/7 and my plants are growing quickly. When I had my seeds/plants on the window sill and outside, no plants sprouted from the seeds...

Pros:
Awesome ergonomic egg-like design.
Never need to change/replace the LED light bulbs.
Cool to the touch and will not burn internal items.
Enclosed (allows for bug and humidity control).
Uses low voltage USB as a power-source.

Cons:
Packaged with worthless garbage (the included CD, seeds, and potting soil).
Requires manually unplugging the USB cable to turn on/off.
USB cable should be a bit longer.

Verdict:
If you want to sprout seeds/plants, or grow small and manageable plants, this "green house" is for you. The low price and compact design makes this item great for anyone.

I bought this to put a small cactus in. I keep in on top of my computer. It's just perfect for what I wanted. The software is useless and so is the artificial soil. I put some potting soil it it and my cactus is doing fine. It's nicely constructed and not a toy. It's not tall enough for anything over about 4 inches
