A handy visual overview of various types of Castles,
By
This review is from: The Usborne Book of Castles: Internet-Linked (Paperback)
This is a spiffy little book that overviews medieval castles.
* The ranks, titles and functions of the various people that owned and ran castles back in feudal times. * The different types of castles, with full color illustrations of their layouts, and individual strengths & weaknesses. * There's a map listing actual castles in the U.K., Europe, and Japan. * There's even a guide on how to read (and design) Heraldy Blazes and Coats of Arms. * The book is also 'internet linked' to a website in which you can enter page numbers of the book, and get a list of jumplinks to related websites. Even though it's target audience is young adults, and even though it weighs in at a mere 92 pages, it's STILL a great little book. It's a MUST HAVE book for the following readers: * Hardcore fans of games like WARHAMMER, AD&D, and other medieval-based role playing games (RPGs) and combat simulations. * Aspiring writers who'd like to read up on basic medieval castle dynamics before writing about such things. Both categories apply to yours truly.
