5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT book for the whole family!!! September 12, 2009

I bought all the 'ingredients' needed to make any of these projects for my boys to be able to choose whichever they wanted all summer long and they had a ton of fun with all the projects we tried!!! even things we have done before at science museums etc...were made more exciting by say adding glitter to things and we all had a blast for nights after making the airplaines made with card stock and rubber bands w/ pencils to launch! even my 3 year old...we haven't had so much fun as a family or laughed so hard as we all tried to see how far we could launch them! i bought this book to get ideas for a science night at school and there are lots of great and inexpensive ideas in this book...and the graphics are fun to look at too! def. would recommend as we will be using this for years to come i'm sure as my oldest is 8!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool August 27, 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a very fun book, and contains a lot of activities for children to do. There are a few that duplicate activities in their "365 Things to Make and Do", but not enough to be a big issue. The "science", however, is iffy on several of the activities - they basically took a neat craft and tried to figure out how science would apply. For example - the Sparkly Space Picture is a collage and glitter picture of a rocket. The science? "bouncing light" from the use of glitter. A little weak.

Mostly, though, this book has activities that make example of better science, and yet are still fun and engaging for kids. A lot of the ideas are fresh and unique, and as with all Usborne books I've seen, the design and layout of the book is fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! January 26, 2010
By Tina
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I ordered this for my 7 year old son and as he and his 4 year old brother looked through the book the first time, they marked the pages they wanted to do and then removed the book marks because every page was marked. It is full of tons of ideas, and they couldn't wait to get started. There are only a few things that you need to purchase - most you will have on hand. Most of the projects are fairly simple which makes them perfect for younger children. This is a fantastice book and I plan to share some of the activities with our cub scout group as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Usborne did it for science too!!! January 17, 2010
By Laura
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love the Usborne books! And here they did a great job blending the crafts with science. The kids love to look through it and pick out new things to do. They especially love the wizzards brew which is simple and fun. We are currently working on the wind cars shown on the front. Very fun and uses simple everyday craft items.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and fun September 27, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love this book, the children are always excited to make the projects from it. The projects are colorful, easy to make and come out beautifully. If I had any complaint it would be that I wished there were a little more explanation about the scientific facts that they were teaching. Of course one can always look up more, still it would help if the teacher/adult didn't have to do all that extra preparing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks good August 7, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have just given this to my daughter for her sixth birthday ... on looking at one science experiment, we found that we had all the bits needed ... tea bags and coffee. A great start. Hopefully the rest of the things to make and do are as easy to source the items needed.
