This attractive picture dictionary should appeal to young German learners. The book functions primarily as an English-to-German dictionary with 12 words and images per page arranged in English alphabetical order. English text is given in blue and German text in black. The entries include adjectives and verbs as well as nouns. Articles are given for all German nouns. Each entry includes a short example sentence or phrase to aid beginners in using German words correctly. The book includes a brief summary of basic German grammar, a German-to-English word list and a separate list of verbs. The colorful photographs of small plastic models depict the entries in an engaging and playful manner. Pronounciations of the German words are given at a website maintained by the publisher. The dictionary is well bound, and the pages are thick and glossy; the book should hold up well with normal use.
