ROCK CITY ANGELS are BACK!,
This review is from: Use Once and Destroy (MP3 Download)
--------------------------author: Katelyn Hill---------------------------
I loved 1988's Geffen Records release, "Young Man's Blues" and never tired of it. This album, "Use Once And Destroy", is - in my opinion - better because it's more focussed and pure (ie lacking record company "improvements"). I love this album - it's my favourite release of 2008 -and I'll be playing it for a long, long time to come. Nice work indeed! ---------------------------author: Robert Yatsko--------------------------- After the first chords of Psychopath, when Durango yells Go,go,go.... You know the Rock City Angels are back! And I feel like startin a revolution right then! Wow, 20 yrs. later and it's on. You can feel the Stooges, the Ramones, and the Pistols comin thru these songs from the opener thru Corrine, I Got Your Heart, and Report Card Day, and then Coffee & Cigarettes. Wow, fits ya like your favorite pair of old jeans. Classic. Then sit back and float away on the title track. And then bam Miracle Worker, sounds like a lost track off YMB's. I keep fighting when you give in, move over Green Day, this is modern pop punk (with a real singer). Convicted, early 80's punk at it's best. Short and sweet. And finally some blues with Bobby and the boys. And then I love the intro of the Divine Asylum, reminds me of the old show Dragnet and their drug episodes! You never thought you'd be here inside of my brain!! Excellent ending to a timeless classic. ------------------------------author: Graham Robinson------------------------ Genius! Punk n Roll sums up "Use Once & Destroy" perfectly. Theres a combination of the swagger of "Young Mans Blues" with the punk attitude that got Rock City Angels noticed in the first place. Thankfully it by-passes the ill fated "glam" period completely. Bobby Durango, you have created a masterpiece, hats off to you sir. Buy or die.
