Review
A guide for roving bookworms. -- The Ottawa Citizen, March 18, 2000
Golfers and antique collectors and the like aren't the only ones who like vacations tailored to their interests. And finally there's a guidebook catering to book-lovers. -- Toronto Star, 9/25/99
The Used Book Lover's Guide to Canada is the newest volume in the Book Hunter Press series of outstanding guidebooks designed specifically for dedicated bibliophiles and book dealers. This 334 page reference features more than 850 open shops, as well as "by appointment only" and mail order dealers from Newfoundland to British Columbia. This invaluable guide is enhanced with twenty-five city, regional and provincial maps. The guide, like all the books in the "book hunter" series includes a detailed description of the bookstore or dealer stock; a Specialty Index with more than 250 subject categories; store hours; easy to follow travel directions; email and website addresses; comments about the stores based on the Siegel's on-site visits; provincial and national dealer indexes. -- Midwest Book Review ,9/99
The Used Book Lover's Guide to Canada, the latest addition to the regional guides produced by David and Susan Siegel at Book Hunter Press in New York and apparently the first guide devoted exclusively to Canada's book dealers. In 340 pages, it gives plentiful detail, plus maps and indexes, of 850 dealers from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Just how good is the coverage I am unable to judge but the Siegel's other six directories, covering the United States, coast to coast, have all been well researched and there is no reason to suppose that Canada has been given second-best treatment. In fact once again, the Siegels set out on a massive tour, visiting many of the bookshops listed and enlivening the text with personal anecdotes. The twenty-five city, regional and provincial maps are well drawn and designed to keep route planning to a minimum. -- Bookdealer, 10/7/99
This general overview of used bookstores in Canada (with comments, a brief description of each dealer's stock, store hours and method of payment, travel directions and maps) belongs on your shelf. -- Toronto Globe and Mail, 10/16/99
Whether you're a traveller who just can't pass a second-hand bookstore or an avid book collector who would make a special trip, these books are for you. -- Travel Scoop, May 2000
