Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Don't be put off by the amateurish drawings or the profusion of capital letters--this is a good book on a subject almost everyone hates. The author is thorough, knowledgeable, and, above all, full of common sense. Taking the reader through every agonizing part of the used-car-purchasing cycle (research, search, examination, test-drive, negotiations), Buechel addresses the nonexpert car buyer who has the interest and the time to take the job seriously (other nonexperts should buy new cars). Rarely belaboring the obvious, the text spells out what to say, what to look for, when to compromise, and how to get out gracefully. After beginning with how to buy a used car from a private party (the much preferred method), Buechel tackles what he believes to be the more difficult route: buying from a dealer. Advice on maintaining and selling a used car concludes this eminently practical guide. Leon Wagner

Review

Plenty of titles advise car buyers to negotiate; but too few get down to exact details. Buechel's tells how to avoid lemons and how to save time, from using outlined and proven negotiation strategies to understanding dealer approaches. -- Midwest Book Review

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Used Car Buyers!!, May 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Used Car Buyer's Manual: How to Find the Best Buy on a Used Car (Paperback)
This should be required reading for anyone buying a used car. It tells you what to look for during the inspection and test drive, how to negotiate... it's got it all!! If you're still not convinced, check out their web page (this is how I found out about the book) which included excerpts from the book.

This review is from: The Used Car Buyer's Manual: How to Find the Best Buy on a Used Car (Paperback)
very dated information...if you can get the book cheap, you might pick up a tip or two, otherwise pass
