5.0 out of 5 stars This book gives guidelines for effective use of prophecy!, April 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: User Friendly Prophecy (Paperback)
User Friendly Prophecy is a straight-forward, no-nonsense manual on the use of prophecy in the Church today. For those Christians who have felt the stirring of this gift in their lives, this book serves as a compass on the map to discovering how to flow in the prophetic.

Larry Randolph breaks down this study on the prophetic into three main thrusts: Establishing the Scriptural Validity of Prophecy, Explaining the Purpose and Place of Prophecy in the Church, and Understanding Prophetic Failure and Success. This book reveals what both the Old and New Testaments have to say about prophets and prophecy and shows how this ancient gift has changed in light of the New Covenant. Both babes in Christ and seasoned believers will learn the fundamentals on how to prophesy, who can prophesy, and who a prophet is as defined by God's word.

5.0 out of 5 stars User Friendly 101, July 26, 2000
This review is from: User Friendly Prophecy (Paperback)
This book is a must for anyone interested in the prophetic. I have heard Larry speak live and we have given out over 10 copies if this book. I have given it to a few Pastors who have also really enjoyed it and have then used it for a Curriculum m for teaching their church on the prophetic. Personally, I also found it very encouraging in my own life and development of the prophetic gifts. You will be very glad you got this book. It is easy reading and you will want to get more than one copy so you can pass it along and keep a copy for your self! Blessings and Refreshings

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for anyone flowing in the prophetic., February 7, 2004

This review is from: User Friendly Prophecy (Paperback)
This book has been out for a few years now and I can't believe I've just now read it. I wish I had found it much sooner. Having a prophetic gift can be a scary thing, both to the one who has the gift and to others, because prophecy is such a misunderstood and misrepresented gift in the Church today. Larry Randolph absolutely takes the fear out of having a prophetic gift. My favorite part of the book explains the purpose of the gift of prophecy and supports this biblically. I also learned how one's spiritual maturity is related to how one ministers with this gift. After reading this book, I was able to see exactly where I was on a maturity level in my gift and could see, using Larry's guidelines, how I should and should not minister at my level. I've given this book to my pastors to review for use as curriculum in our church and highly recommend that other pastors do the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good guide to what God is up to with his children these days!, November 13, 2008
This review is from: User Friendly Prophecy (Paperback)
There is a difference between being a prophet and prophesying. We all can prophesy, which is creating the future in our thoughts and words. We are powerfully made and it is an honor to know just how powerful! What a joy it is to pray good things into being!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good not Great, June 26, 2011

This review is from: User Friendly Prophecy (Paperback)
In short order:

1. Very good overview of the prophetic

2. Great advice on how to not be a flakey and strange Christian, especially a strange prophetic Christian

3. Good and insightful stories

4. His defense of the prophetic was lacking though. I think he could have spent more time developing a stronger theological defense. This was the only downside.

Overall, this is a good and refreshing book on the prophetic. Easy to read and a smooth read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for the prophetic, June 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Larry Randolph is a high level prophet and my hand reaches for the pen every time he opens his mouth. User Friendly Prophecy is foundational for those growing in the prophetic. The biggest take-home message for me was how to get better at prophecy without causing unnecessary damage to the people in my life. Here are a few concepts I read about:

* Establishing intimacy and relationship with God before we start representing him to others
* Getting better at prophecy through practice, and not being afraid to make mistakes
* Start out with encouraging prophecies where mistakes can be made, but hold off giving direction/correction where mistakes have consequences

I'm also really glad this was available on the kindle, because I read the entire book on my iPod touch while on the go.

This review is from: User Friendly Prophecy (Paperback)
User Friendly Prophecy is an excellent resource to supplement Bible studies on prophecy. Larry J. Randolph was able to answer several questions, provide supporting examples and practical guidlines for growing in the gift of prophecy. I better understand its revelation, interpretation and application. I highly recommend this book for all Christians. I realize the importance of prophecy to edify, exhort and comfort. Thank you very much.
