No matter who you are, what you look like, what your idiosyncrasies are, just how awful or weird you think you are--read this and a wonderful thing will happen! You will come out smelling like a rose. Patsy Claimont had come to a place where she wouldn't even get out of bed! Now she travels nation- and worldwide with Women of Faith and shares in the funniest ways how to accept yourself without being "perfect." What a woman!

Laughter IS the best medicine!,
This review is from: God Uses Cracked Pots (Paperback)
This is an absolutely delightful read! Forget about your troubles as you tag along with Patsy on one crazy adventure after another. You'll be just as surprised as she is when you stumble upon God's lessons of love and wisdom right there in the middle of everyday life! So many times I laughed (out loud, even)...and thought, "hmmmm...God, I think this little piece of wisdom was written just for what I'm going through right now." It would lift my heart, leave a smile on my face...and speak to my heart of hearts, too.I have especially loved reading this book when I was going through trying times. In the midst of the uncertainty & weariness of cancer treatment, I loved to curl up with "God Uses Cracked Pots" and read a chapter. It was such refreshment when I just didn't have it in me to do anything else. This book would be the perfect gift for a friend or family member that might be going through cancer treatment or any other stressful time...it's a great way to say you care when you're just not sure what else to do.

A Humorous Look At Life Again.,
By Betty Burks "Betty Burks" (Knoxville, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God Uses Cracked Pots (Paperback)
This is Patsy Claimont's paperback of wisdom al la Erma Bombeck. When we have drastic changes in our lives, she describes it as analogous with repairing a cracked pot. "Picture an empty pitcher with a network of cracks down the front. Now imagine that pitcher filled with light and a lid put on the top. Where does the light shine through: the cracks."In an anonymous email from an unsolicited coward, I was called 'bird brained.' Here, she goes on a treacheous walk looking for birds and feels disappointed, even though the exercise was as good for the spirit as the body; when she looked out the window of her living room, there were six (count them) birds just waiting in her front yard. Her pick of the birds are Ms Hummingbird, Mr. Woodpecker, and Mr. & Mrs. Cardinal. Her friend raises peacocks. My first encounter with these beautiful territorial birds was at a church retreat in the mountains at Monteagle (near Chattanooga); every time, I would go for a solitary walk, they would let me know I was not to come their way. They are "...beautiful but arrogant birds who strut around so that all can see their attire. They ruffle and fan and make noises for attention. Now, no one seems to take them seriously anymore." At the Appalachian Museum at Harrogate, I was surprised to learn that the female peacock is white. Only the male has the glorious colors and arrogant manner. One day her youngest son decided to get on with life by dropping out of school at the age of six because it was too boring. "Jason," she said, "life is boring. Get on the bus!" Bus token, anyone? "It's life; get on the bus." The story of my present life! The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.
