Breaking it down IN Plain English,
By Diannah Morgan (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Using Audition (DV Expert Series) (Paperback)
It's amazing how importan Sound is. Most people just take it for granted. As an editor I know that a glitch in the sound is going to be felt way before they see me drop a frame. Well, ok depending on the glitch. I've done a fair amount of mixing on the timeline, going by what sounded good, and sometimes futzing around for hours trying to make it right. But NOW! WOW, this book takes the time to explain in Plain English how to do it. I LOVED Chapter 9 on Analysis. Right away it made sense out of hours of trial and error. This book is going to save me hours

Great Book....but,

This review is from: Using Audition (DV Expert Series) (Paperback)
This is a well put together book by an experiences sound engineer - who has since moved on to bigger and better things. It is comprehensive (for its size) and practically minded.
However, a program like Audition has a heavy learning curve. I frankly don't think a book can bring a new user up to speed like a DVD. Read this book first, but then get yourself a DVD on Adobe Audtition if you are serious about getting the most from this application. It made a huge difference for me.

Not for beginners,
This review is from: Using Audition (DV Expert Series) (Paperback)
This book is full of in-depth information on Audition and it's many functions and is worded in plain english that will make sense to anyone already familar with Audio work. Unfortunately, its not structured for a beginner. It progresses in a manner consistent with the program but not in a logical manner from start to finish, which is what a first time user needs to be able to grasp the basic concepts of using the program from scratch.
