This book is for any small business owner who wants to tap into the power of LinkedIn. What I like about this book is that you walk away with real technology skills. Using LinkedIn by Patrice-Ann Rutledge tells me what I need to know about leveraging LinkedIn to the max. This is also one of the first books I've seen that has step-by-step video tutorials, web links and audio sidebar interviews with experts that you can download to create a customized learning experience. My favorite chapters for entrepreneurs are: Communicating with Your LinkedIn Network, Saving Time with LinkedIn Tools, Advertising on LinkedIn.

Patrica-Anne Rutledge doesn't miss a beat. I also like the the Safari Online Video supplements. I've been really using LinkedIn for the past 6 months when I thought I might need another job since our government contract wasn't being renewed. The book has helped me to ferret out some of the more not obvious aspects.

Patrice-Anne Rutledge's USING MICROSOFT POWERPOINT 2010 and USING LINKEDIN are fine, specific program-oriented references that are top picks for any new learner. Each book is accompanied by step-by-step video tutorials and audio sidebars delivered through the Free Web Edition that comes with each book. The result is a video tutorial and accompanying text unparalleled in scope and coverage, offering plenty of visuals reinforced by specific details. From using Linkedin to view and submit news articles and posting updates to inserting video clips into Powerpoint and modifying images, these are top references students will need!

I bought this book because it had online tutorials. I started over an hour ago from time of this writing. When I attempted to sign on, after navigating through a circling thicket of pages several rounds, I called the support line where after several switching around I was informed by a rude person that their lines were only open for educators not students. When I asked for a supervisor, I was informed that one was not available at all and a name would not be provided, but that that supervisor had refused to speak to me. Evidently the supervisor speaks to their reps but not customers.

I am a working person and my time is money but to Pearson Publishing, I'm a mere student and not worth their time. Evidently Pearson Publishing's ideas of its students are of funded, un-employed college kids who have nothing better to do than lolligag in a Starbucks wasting time on-line chatting for hours with no results or willing to just wait around until Pearson deems it worth their while to own up to their claims of on-line features for its products--if ever.

My experience is organizations with thick, opaque walls around their products have something to hide. The ones with receptive, accessible support have nothing to hide, are easy to use, open to revision from listening to user experiences. If just trying to get on-line at que publishing/pearson is any indication, the tutorials are not worth their time, but I wouldn't know, not having seen them despite sincere effort trying.
