This review is from: Using Mass Spectrometry for Drug Metabolism Studies, Second Edition (Hardcover)
Although the fist edition of this book is still quite useful, there have been enough improvements and novel innovations in the past 6-7 years, it is worth making use of this new edition. Of particular interest are the recent advances in chromatography, as well as ionization interfaces that are already showing promising appications for DMPK work. Like the first edition, each chapter is clearly written by people that use the technique for their work, as the examples are very relevant to the DMPK scientist. Each of the covered techniques contains enough background material to allow even the novice to get started, and the references will be of interest to the more advanced reader. Both quantitative and qualitative applications are covered in the chapters, as well as the strategies by which they are put into place in the DMPK setting. The experienced mass spec person within DMPK will appreciate the comprehensive nature of the material in this book, while the many collaborating scientists from chemistry, biology, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics will learn enough to get a better understanding of what mass spectrometry can do for drug metabolism studies. If you have one book on your shelf in this area, this should be it!
