About the Author

Helping teachers harness the enthusiasm children have for their toys in order to turn toys into learning tools! During my years as a classroom teacher I’ve taught preschool, first grade, second grade, fourth grade, sixth grade and three days of third grade (but that’s a story for another time!) At night I’ve taught adult education and Master’s level technology classes for teachers. For three years I was released from my classroom duties to provide staff development in the area of technology integration for the teachers within my own school district. And currently, I am an elementary media specialist and teach technology and information literacy to kindergarten through sixth graders. My passion is to help teachers use technology in fun and engaging ways while making learning meaningful for children! Visit turningtoysintotools.com for more ways you can create learning experiences based on the gadgets that kids love!

Excellent resource for the elementary classroom. Many practical, easy to follow ideas. Why not take something kids love and make it a part of learning?!! Kudos to the author for a job well done!

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, September 2, 2010

This review is from: Using Webkinz In The Classroom: Turning Toys Into Tools: Teaching With Technology (Paperback)
I was disappointed in this book. I am using a Webkinz in my kindergarten classroom this year as our class pet. I was looking for different ways to use the "pet" in the classroom. The book is basically forms to record results as students play each game. I am not going to be able to use any of these with my kindergartners. I thought the book was overprices for what was in it, I could create all of the forms on my computer easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!, March 23, 2008
This review is from: Using Webkinz In The Classroom: Turning Toys Into Tools: Teaching With Technology (Paperback)
This book is great for teachers and students alike. Teachers will love it because it highlights a number of educational ideas for using Webkinz in the classroom. Students will be so excited to bring their Webkinz to school and actually use them in the classroom. If you're looking for educational applications for Webkinz, this is the resource for you.
