I've been listening to this soundtrack almost continuously since I got it last month. I liked John Ottoman's soundtrack for X2: X-Men United, but this soundtrack is in another league altogether. The initial melody is haunting, and Ottoman sustains the themes well through changes in mood and plotlines. And his conducting cannot be improved upon.

I have a lot of soundtracks in my library, but this is one of the best.

The music to this soundtrack is very moving and mysterious. My favorites on this soundtrack are "Main Theme", "New York's Finest", "The Greatest Trick" and "Les Sons Et Les Parfums Tournent Dans L'Air Du Soir". The use of the violins and other string instruments is ingenious while sometimes being uplifting and other times leaving one with a sense of urgency. The piano is played beautifully. The incorporation of the flute and the oboe, in conjunction with the violins, permeates a sense of peacefulness, while sometimes yielding a feeling of sadness. It's very hard to describe. This is one of my favorite movie soundtracks.

Tremendous movie, Tremendous soundtrack ! Powerful, gripping and extremely well conducted music that you just don't get to hear too much of anymore in soundtracks.

John Ottman, the composer and editor, has here a soundtrack that works extremely well with the film, but is a pleasure to listen to on its own as well.

This soundtrack is rarely boring and always interesting. Ottman keeps things interesting by using many different styles, yet they all have a common feel, never becoming dissonant.

And above all, this is a moving soundtrack with a beautifully serene main theme and a threatening and ominous Keyser Soze theme.

I highly recommend this album for anyone who loved the movie.

A soundtrack should evoke the mood of the film it is from. The Usual Suspects soundtrack by John Ottman does that and then goes on to be a beautiful piece of art in and of itself. This is the kind of music that is designed to make you close your eyes and watch the pictures unfold in your head. The use of violin and piano is wonderful. It is quite a change from oh, the Godzilla soundtrack :-) The "Main Theme" (track 1) has a timeless quality, almost out of place for a violent mystery movie. Bookending it nicely is "Les Sons Et Les Parfums Tournent Dans L'Air Du Soir" (track 24) by Claude Debussy, performed by Jon Kull. And between...is the movie. Highly recomended.

I love this cd the orchestra is wonderful the melody is to die for.

This score is masterfully composed, allowing maximum emotion to be evoked from listener/viewer. The melodic main theme is almost hypnotic, mysterious, and sad at the same time. It searches for something concrete, which is resolved when in conjunction with the film. The piano is played beautifully, especially in the title theme, the most moving of the pieces, in my opinion.

This is arguably the best soundtrack ever constructed. It's the greatest soundtrack I have, every single piece of music on this score blends well together and is incredible! I love it, once you buy it, you can't put it down, I listen to it 24/7. One of my favorites is "Payback Time", but hey, the whole soundtrack is superb. I recommend this score to anyone who loved the movie-(I did!)

This is one of my favorite movie score/soundtrack CDs. John Ottman's composition is haunting and beautiful, fitting seamlessly with the movie itself, but it also stands alone as a modern orchestral masterpiece. While other movies' scores (Star Wars, The X-Files, etc.) are indelibly linked with the movies from which they came, the music from The Usual Suspects seems more like a collection of traditional classical music in some respects. Even listeners who have never seen The Usual Suspects would enjoy this amazing score.
