Question: What do you get when you combine the renowned landscape photography of Fred Hirschmann with the uncompromising quality of publishing for which Graphic Arts Center Publishing Company is known? Answer: A stunning four-pound collection of incomparable photographs of one of the nation's most culturally and naturally rich states - Utah. It is difficult to know where to start describing this vibrant collection of photographs of what has to be one of America's most beautiful states. Hirschmann, a renowned landscape photographer, has traveled the length and breadth of the state photographing both landmarks and architectural gems including the obligatory Zion, Arches, Bryce and Canyonlands National Parks. But there is more, so much more. There are photos of the Wasatch Range, Uinta Mountains, Flaming George, the Mojave Desert and virtually every geographical area in between. A photograph of the full moon rising over Swasey Mountain in the House Range is, alone, worth the price of the book. The Colorado Plateau has never been so well presented in pictures as in this book. While it is true that Utah has to be one of the most photographed states in the nation, this photo-essay book proves that a good eye, patience, and a love of the area can produce a unique, beautiful book that will make Utah residents proud and all others just a bit jealous. This book will be the standard by which all others are judged. --Moab Times-Independent, Mike Nobles, 10/09/08
