5.0 out of 5 stars A great learn and dream treatise, April 3, 2003

This review is from: Utah's Green River: A Flyfisher's Guide to the Flaming George Tailwater (Paperback)
I,ve floated and fished the Green for over 20 years and one of my great joys is listening to the tales and advice from great guides such as Dennis Breer and Emmitt Heath. Dennis has put his love and knowledge of this great river into a concise, informative, yet poetic read. Dennis' book will make you a better fisherman in general and, certainly better prepared to match wits with the Green's great trout. The fly tying instructions with color plates are well done and and a necessity to"match the hatch". Sit back and enjoy the Green from your den or get ready to experience the magnificent Green River canyon.

This review is from: Utah's Green River: A Flyfisher's Guide to the Flaming George Tailwater (Paperback)
Denny Breer loved fishing the Green River and loved helping people catch more and bigger fish. He was a rarity and one of the last of a dying breed of anglers who love the sport and want to SHARE rather than horde information and force others to seek them out. This book is a wonderful summary of Denny's knowledge ofthe Green River and covers the seasons and sections of this magnificent water in succinct detail. He explains why dry flies work in situations you might not expect and how to ENJOY fishing the Green while still catching a lot of nice fish. From fly patterns to locations to boat handling, this book is a perfect primer for anyone interested in fishing the Green either with or without a guide. Lots of full color photos and plenty of line drawings, maps, and black and white photos tie seemlesly with the text and insure that all the written information is clear and easy to follow. Buy this book for yourself or anyone else who might be interested in the Green River and you'll be a happy individual!!!

A very good book. The information was fairly current and the advice on guides, float trips and conditions was accurate. I would recommend it to anyone contemplating fishing the Green River.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever on fishing the Green River, May 1, 2009
This review is from: Utah's Green River: A Flyfisher's Guide to the Flaming George Tailwater (Paperback)
The late Dennis Breer has written the definative work on fishing the Green below the Flaming Gorge dam--all three sections. This book is a must for anyone making a trip to the river. The author describes in detail the seasons, sections, hatches and methods of fishing the Green. Especially helpful are the chapters on wade fishing the river, paying particular attention to the challenges of addressing the Green's varying river flows. Given Breer's unfortunate passing in the fall of 2008, it will be a long time before we see another work on the Green River matching the detail and completenes of "Utah's Green River."
