About the Author
Bernard Williams (1929-2003) was White's Professor of Moral Philosophy at Oxford University, and Monroe Deutsch Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. His previous books include "Descartes: The Project of Pure Inquiry (1979), "Moral Luck (1981), and "Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy (1985).
Bernard Williams's books include "Truth and Truthfulness" (Princeton); "Making Sense of Humanity"; "Morality"; and "Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy." At the time of his death in 2003, he was Fellow of All Souls College, University of Oxford. Geoffrey Hawthorn is Professor of International Politics at the University of Cambridge.
Amartya Sen is Lamont University Professor at Harvard University. He is affiliated with the Departments of Economics and Philosophy.
