Let's face it, everyone loves fire. The firestash just makes it much easier to bring the benefits of the flame with you wherever you choose to go. I carry one on my keychain and will continue to do so for as long as it lasts.

Once you fill this thing up it will consistantly produce a light. Simply pull up on the striker and the internal fluid storage pod will slide right out, offering storage for the lighter fluid. Spin that wheel with your finger and you will have your fire. Conveniently, you may use all the same parts as a zippo, the flint, wicks, and lighter fluid. This significantly prolongs the life of this lighter as well, it is not disposable by any means. However, this offers one HUGE advantage over a zippo besides its tiny size, it won't dry out on you when you need it. It is sealed water tight with an 0-ring so no moisture can't get in or out unless you want it to. Mind you, do not take this think diving or submerge it for any great length of time. It is water-resistant, not completely waterproof. The finish on this lighter seems rugged and able to withstand the test of time. Yes, it will scratch on a keychain, but it will only be a minor surface blemish and only give it character and prove you use the thing.

However, there are downsides to this product. Its small size limits the amount of fluid and consequently, the amount of use you will get without refilling. In addition, the botton of the lighter is rounded off and will not stand on a surface if needed. If you needed two hands to perform a task while needing a light as well, this lighter will have to be propped up somehow. Also, i didn't like the "squared off" keyring, but I don't like any chrome keyrings as they chip and diminish over time.

Ok, this thing is essentially pot metal, with a not so impressive rubber "washer" to seal the unit and a dip-zinc paint job. Carry this in your pocket dinging around with your keys, and yes that awesome zinc plating will begin to make this $10 lighter look like a $0.50 lighter that came out of a gumball machine, causing you to lament the fact that you didn't get the blow-pop ring instead.

There are MUCH better products out there for a few dollars more, and no... you don't have to be Clint Eastwood to get this. Try google-ing "peanut lighter" and you will find something made of stainless steel, with an actual internal o-ring that is shielded from pocket debris and erosion, and that relies on gentle compression instead of a vice like twist seal toy-seal similar to this product. This means is that the gasket will last a lot longer on the other product and I forget what I paid, maybe $14, and the makers of the peanut actually drive over it with a truck to illustrate the strength (not that I'm plugging this other mfgr, so I won't even mention their web site, but you'll find it in a certain county perhaps).

Instead of this China-pot-metal trinket that belongs free with a cap gun, sporting corroded cap popping studs and a rusty hammer, seriously get yourself an actual stainless type and save your $10 for a couple of happy meals.

Two stars to be fair to the fact that it does light and produce fire, and if kept in a drawer, wrapped in tissue paper, with gentle twisting force applied ONLY, ...this lighter will look OK and probably light your vanilla-chai candles just fine.

I received this as a gift, and at first thought I would never use it. I don't smoke, and failed to see how it would be practical as one more thing on a crowded key ring. To humor my family (the gift-givers) I bought some lighter fluid (it ships empty). To fill the lighter, you unscrew the cap, and pull the lighter assembly out of the lower case. The lower case, below the strike wheel is a hollow tube, open on the bottom end, and stuffed with wicking. You then hold the lower tube upside down and saturate the wicking with lighter fluid. There is a screw head extending from the bottom end of the tube to adjust flame size. Slide the tube back into the lower casing, spin the strike wheel with you thumb, and you have fire. The cap seals well with the o-ring, and I have never had any difficulty with fluid spilling even after several months of usage. And...I do use it. Birthday candles, a backyard fire, legal (cough) fireworks on the 4th of July...

Pros:
- It really is small.
- Works great. The lighter has never failed to light.
- Nice to have a lighter handy when needed.
- Seems well-built. Nothing plastic or cheap about it.

Cons:
- Chrome finish has lost some luster quickly (the flame, the fluid? what?)
- Adjustment screw on bottom takes some fiddling to adjust the way you want it.

I definitely enjoy this gift and I'm glad I have it.

Utter crap, completely fell apart before i even had a chance to fill it....the fill container stuck together cotton padding ripped, internal metal cylinder stuck in case ....contacted seller sent photo, about it, said return at my expense instead of sending replacement. At best reluctantly stands behind product. Probably a chronic condition that threatens their cash flow. Not a good company in my opinion.
