Not a great set of remixes.,

Goldfrapp is a spectacular accomplishment as a band and a personality, but this CD of remixes falls flat like so many remix CDs do. If you do get this, do so because there's a bunny on the cover, that's about it. There isn't even one track I would recommend. While the Spanish "Calexico" cover of Utopia, is unexpected, it's not terribly outstanding. And the Let's Get Physical cover of the UK Girls I can do without, though to Goldfrapp's credit they do a reasonable job of turning this into a "Goldfrapp" sounding track. Possibly the only track of genuine interest on this CD is the live version of Human, which sounds alarmingly close to the album version but with out the intense low end. And there's a Utopia dance remix and a blippity electronica remix--the usual fair. It's just that the proper album is already so fantastic these tracks don't explore that. But if you have a burning love of remixes, or you like to dance, you might like this CD.

Get it for the Remixed Utopia and U.K. Girls,

Olivia (Physical) got a revamp Goldfrapp style and Utopia got a new sound. That makes the single worth it's purchase. The only main draw back is the Calexico version of Human, that was unecessary.

Bow Down to Sunroof,

Utopia is a great pop song, but it took Sunroof to give it a really solid third dimension. This ep would be worth purchasing for the Sunroof mix alone, but every other track is good value and markedly different from the others; it plays out like an album in itself. Highly recommended.

if you are a die hard fan of goldfrapp like me then... of course get this. otherwise you may want to spend your money on something else. there are only 2 or 3 tracks on this cd that warrant any real interest. the 4 mixes of utopia are especially forgettable. the bunny it pretty cute though.

Although I love Alison Goldfrapp, I'd lie if I tried to explain her. File her under 'Weird' - a woman who sang a capella while milking a very anxious cow. (Yes, it really did happen...) But she has a powerful voice, her band has a strong sound. And it all comes to down-tempo elegant weirdness. It seems to work. You'd be a fool to ignore her weirdness. Alison is going places, and she's hauling her bizarre band with her. This very strange EP works well. "Utopia" is the highlight of her debut CD, creepy catchy & corny. Perfectly Goldfrapp. While the less adventurous scratch their heads, real fans need to hear the unreleased "UK Girls - Let's Get Physical". With its bizarre down-tempo production, it's almost a Goth anthem - it's also kinda dumb. Goldfrapp in a nutshell. The included live version of "Human" is exceptional, it swings while the studio version nags. The other 5 mixes of "Utopia" are barely worth mentioning. I can't wait for the next album, just to explain the first one.

Goldfrapp - Utopia (Genetically Enriched),
This review is from: Utopia (Audio CD)
Finally, stateside buyers don't have to shell out the extra money for import singles! If only Mute did this all the time... alas. The single itself is great, including Calexico's Spanish-language remake of "Human," and four remixes of "Utopia." Jori Hulkkonen and Tom Middleton both house up the track, with Jori coming out the winner -- his moody version fits the original's. Tim Wright throws in some abstract breaks and loops the tinkling piano intro. And Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" remade with some original Goldfrapp material? Utopian indeed.

This CD contains the UK Girls reload of the classical "Physical" originally by Olivia Newton John
