For Hardcore Utopia Fans ONLY!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Utopia - Live in Boston 1982 (DVD)
If you are a fan that absolutely must have everything available by Todd Rundgren and Utopia then I suppose that you'll want this but anyone else should steer clear.I used to have a video tape of "An Evening With Utopia" and loved it. Unfortunately that particular show is not available on DVD. Since this DVD is from the same tour I thought that it may approach the quality of the video I used to love so much. Not EVEN CLOSE. The video quality is poor, the audio mix is often off and the overall look and sound is barely above that of a home-made video or an amateur concert video one may see on local access cable TV. So, like I said; This DVD is for hardcore fans only. If anyone knows of a decent quality DVD of Utopia from the same era I'd like to hear from them as I find this DVD almost unwatchable.

It's An Improvement over "Utopia Live In Columbus Ohio 1980.,
This review is from: Utopia - Live in Boston 1982 (DVD)
Like the other reviewers here, I saw the cover of this & was attracted by the fact that this was obviously the same tour that "An Evening With Utopia" was taken from. But I knew that it was NOT the same show (that show was recorded in Cleveland.) But I picked it up anyway in hopes that it was comparable. As I said, it's an improvement over their "Columbus" show in both video quality & sound. And the set list is impressive again, with alot taking from the "Utopia" album that they were supporting. Personal faves are "Princess of the Universe" and "Say Yeah." Also represented are standouts from earlier albums, notably "Swing To The Right," "Road To Utopia," and "Caravan." Bottom line is, it's a great package for the die-hard fan, and a decent intro for the casual observer. But this is not the definitive Utopia DVD yet. Hopefully, someone will get the hint & release a wonderfully remastered version of "An Evening With ..." on DVD in the near future. But until then, this disk will whet your apetite

Say What? Say Yeah,
By Thom L. Jennings (Albion, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Utopia - Live in Boston 1982 (DVD)
Utopia was at the top of thier game on this tour but the video and audio quality of this DVD is just awful. The bonus interviews are great and make the item worth picking up for nostalgia purposes only. Get Redux '92 if you want some great Utopia live stuff on DVD
