If your family members see you reading this they will think something is wrong with you because you'll be laughing out loud a lot.

Those who read the best seller list will need to practice reading a few pages to get the cadence of the Wodehouse style. But once they do they will find enjoyment in every sentence.

If you find you like Wodehouse you'll discover much of his work for free or .99 cents on Kindle.

Have fun.

"Uncle Fred in the Springtime" was my introduction to Wodehouse when I was in the 9th grade, and Wodehouse has been an obsession ever since. And while I love all Wodehouse's little world, Uncle Fred is a special creation.

And UTTERLY UNCLE FRED has some welcome rarities, such as COCKTAIL TIME. And SERVICE WITH A SMILE is a charming late Wodehouse. If you haven't read it you need to. But how can they label a book "Utterly Uncle Fred" and not include UNCLE FRED IN THE SPRINGTIME?

So, no problem with the content of the book. If you are a Wodehousean who has not been able to read the works herein, by all means get your hands on this. Just know it is not the complete Uncle Fred.

I was disappointed that the editors did not include Uncle Fred in the Springtime or the much-quoted story of Uncle Fred and Pongo's day at the dog races. I read the short story 40 years ago in my college library, so I know it does exist, though I do not remember the exact title.
