I GUARANTEE THE V.I.P!!!, July 18, 2003
This review is from: V.I.P. Lounge 2 (Audio CD)
In comparison to its predecessor, V.I.P Lounge 2 is just as strong, if not stronger, a collection of electro/world music. Most of the material and artists on Disc 1 and 2 are very obsure and raises question marks in ones mind. Notwithstanding, the tracks are delightful rarities and scream "Hey, play me next!" You can always expect Wagram Records to provide you with artists that are very unconventional of compilation CDs. On disc 1 (Electro)Moon Juice's funky Billy Holliday sampled, "What We Do" definitely is the stand out track and bares repeated listenings, as well as Athome Project's reggae-ish "Summertime." Mich Gerber and Imogen Heap have a winner with the somber, yet upbeat "Embers of Love." Matthieu Lagarde's fun and quirky "The Best Thing to Do" is another stand-out track, as well as Waterplace's haunting, dirge-like "Daylight." Tracks from Bonobo, Sise', Tweaker and Ashton Kitty will also grab you in more ways than one. Disc 2 (World) delves you into the deeper, darker sound of music from around the globe. This CD has to grow on the pedestrian listener, but again it inundates you with a wealth of unknowns that open your eyes and ears to the unique sounds of music from far way places. Stand-out tracks include the seductive "Huong Vietnam" by Nguyen, My Phuong/Thierry David, the exotic "Don't Cry Me Love" by Tekdilek, Omar Faruk/Steve Shehan, the jazzy "Musica E." by Jairzinho Oliveira and the hypnotic "Gulname" by Mercan Dame. I'm not a big fan of "World" music, but in this case I'm forced to make an exception. "V.I.P Lounge 2" is chalked full of gems that will have you playing it continuously until it's all scratched up like my copy is.

Excellent set of 2 CD's. I cant stop playing it.
I would buy it for "Huong Vietnam" by itself. One of the most powerful passionate songs I have ever heard.
Give this a try if your new to Lounge, This is Electronica and World Music together. Very stimulating.
