Cheap for good reason..,

Flat and muddy. Wooden bass and no spacial dimension of music possible. I really wanted to like these as Costco has a good price for them (Sport Series V-Moda) but unfortunately there is nothing to rave about. They'll be going back. Don't waste your money if you are looking for an upgrade of your MP3 stock earbuds. The nice little kit included is not why I would be buying any headphones. I'll be trying the Vibes and hope that all the positive reviews out there are accurate. Otherwise it's back to my Bose (even though the earpieces are a pain to deal with while traveling)

Poor-sounding, poorly-built, and a poor value,

V-Moda has a fairly good reputation for their Vibe series, which are a bit gimmicky but sound fairly decent for cheap in-ears. So when I saw these on sale at a local Costco, I thought they would be a reasonable impulse buy.
Positives: The cable length is pretty close to perfect at 4'; not too short, not too long. They don't stick out too far from your head, nor are that pearly white that just screams, "I have an expensive MP3 player, please target me for mugging immediately". Negatives: These things add a large amount of artificial bass, which ultimately comes across as muddy and dull. Highs and mids are subdued and sound lifeless. With my iPod, I was able to get a sound only slightly better than the stock iPod headphones by using the "Bass Reducer" or "Treble Booster" EQ presets. Since the iPhone headphones arguably only sound good to people with a tin ear, this is saying a lot. As for the build quality, aside from metal housings, they are not exactly awe-inspiring. The wiring is flimsy and the connector is tin. The mesh screens are coarse next to a comparable model from a superior manufacturer (e.g. Sennheiser, Shure, AKG). If you're human, the speakers in these things will likely become contaminated with earwax. Conclusion: At the price, it would be difficult _not_ to find better-quality headphones. Even if you're the type that thinks iPod earphones sound decent, there's no reason to settle on these when you can get much better for the same price... even if you cannot properly appreciate the difference. Buying them on a whim was a huge mistake on my part, and I will be returning them. Please take my experience into consideration if you are thinking of doing the same.

Baffled by the bad reviews,

I really am at a loss to understand the negative reviews of this. I bought a different pair of noise isolation ear buds that were rated 4+ stars and they were horrible! I picked these up at [...]o for 29.99, and I thought they were amazing. Maybe I'm just not an audiophile enough to appreciate really good sound, but these are the best pair of $30 ear buds I have ever owned. And they do a decent job of noise isolation too.

Nice kit, garbage sound,
This review is from: V-Moda Sport Series Headphones for iPhone/iPod/MP3/CD with Bonus Carrying Case and Airplane Adapters (Electronics)
I was in Costco the other day and was browsing the aisles and walked passed these. I figured I would try them out for the gym and occasional desk sessions...they didn't even make it that far. When I got home I plugged them into my iPod Touch 2G and was surprised at the muddy sound from these. I tried different EQ settings and just couldn't get them to balance. I have a cheap $[...]~ pair of Koss Plugs that have more clarity and they aren't exactly know for it. So I ended up taking these back to Costco same day and politely informed them of the poor sound quality of this product. The nice little kit can't overcome vomit in the ear.

Impressive degree of bass, and very efficient, meaning you can/should lower the volume. Some music sounds very good with these, but overall the bass is overdone - it gets tiring on my ears and makes some music sound muddy.
In ear phones are consistently much better than ear buds, and these aren't bad for the price, but who wants too much bass?

Not Worth It,

My V-Moda Vibe heaphones are my favorite, which makes these even more dissappointing. Sound was best described in another review: "muddy", and that's the best I could say about these.
For about the same price, depending on the color (what's up with that?), you should be looking at the Sennheiser CX300. (This is NOT an ad, disguised as a review!)

Comfortable headphones with continuously improving sound,

I was looking for an inexpensive set of headphones to use at the gym. I saw the negative reviews for V-Moda Sports, but decided to give these a try anyway - the deal at Costco was too difficult to pass up and V-Moda has a good reputation.
After using the headphones straight out of the box, I had the same complaint as the majority of reviewers - the sound was crappy. It was flat and beyond unimpressive. However, I also noted that this was the most comfortable set of in-ear headphones I have ever tried - they are light, fit very nicely in my ear, form a good seal, and produce little or no irritation or pain after prolonged use - which is usually my main problem with earbuds and in-ears. The cord is about the right length and is not too thick. Considering that I was getting these for use at the gym or while running, I decided that stellar sound quality is not is not as important as comfort and suitability for use during exercise. So I kept them. Here is the thing - as time went by, the sound got better. Significantly better. Never thought burn-in can make a difference with such small headphones, but apparently it does in this case. After about 20 hours of use, the flatness started to disappear, the sound become cleaner, more balanced. To make sure it was not just my ear getting used to bad sound, I gave them a break and then came back to using them later. It was definitely better. I listen to all types of music, with different sound profiles, and these headphones now handle them all quite well. Are they as good as some of the fancier competition? Probably not. But for a [...] set for use at the gym or while your out and about they are great.

High price, low quality, low durability,
This review is from: V-Moda Sport Series Headphones for iPhone/iPod/MP3/CD with Bonus Carrying Case and Airplane Adapters (Electronics)
I listen mostly to house/trance/techno.
Cons: 1. Muddy sound swallows lows, mids and highs 2. Cord is as thin as VMODA vibe, notorious for breaking within the first month of use. So the VMODA sports series probably breaks as easily. 3. 45 bucks 4. Does not fit my ears snugly No pros.

Got these at costco for $40. Taking them back. Sound is dull, lifeless, muddy. Could NOT EQ it to get to anything that sounded anywhere near listenable.
