5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!
My son plays with this first thing in the morning. (Luckily there are two settings for volume) Alphabet Town lights up and 'talks' to him. There are many settings like: clocks, music, simon says, directions, spelling and phonics. I really like the music button. My son likes to dance to the music of all the songs I have sung to him. I find it a good value due the variety...

1.0 out of 5 stars deceivingly educational!!!!
Yes, it's cute and yes it lights up, but it's teaching the wrong things. I AM a teacher and the phonics section of the toy is totally wrong! Many of the consonants are mispronounced, adding the "uh" sound to the end. Also, when my son doesn't "perform" to acceptable levels, it boo's him and puts a big X on the screen. I'd much rather hear "try again" a thousand times...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy despite a couple of issues, December 15, 2009

I bought this for my daughter 4 years ago when she was 2. I'm happy to report that she doesn't say "libary" nor does she think "push a buttons" is proper grammar DESPITE the fact that she played with this toy every evening for quite awhile. My son also really enjoyed it and my youngest is just now starting to play with it. It's the same one, so I guess it's pretty durable. My kids love the music with all the flashing lights keeping the beat (I do too) and the large letters. It's great for teaching simple letter identification - the applause is a great touch. I love this toy because it's fun. It's educational too but it's fun enough and easy enough to manipulate that a child will sit and tinker with it for quite awhile. As the mother of 3 small kids, that is invaluable to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this toy!, October 13, 2009

I bought this for my son last Christmas. Although I agree the phonics aren't perfect, I've been amazed by my son's progress with this toy. My son will be two this October. He frequently seeks out this toy and plays independently with it, switching from game to game, and he LOVES the music part (carries it around like a boom box, dancing to the music).

But what I was most amazed by was when I could ask him "Where is the "K"?" and he could push that button - through almost the entire alphabet! He isn't two yet, but has picked this up by playing with this toy. Part of the appeal for him is the lights and sounds that happen when he pushes the buttons, and part is the clapping and cheering when he gets things correct.

Way to go Vtech!

Gave it to three two year olds as a gift. They played with it more than the box in came in (thats a feat in itself). They loved the music and lights.

I bought this toy as a gift. It is very interactive and teaches valuable and relevant information. Lots of Modes and games to choose from with good volume, bold keys, clear pronounciations, and nice narrations. A very nice value and gift overall.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lasted 2 days, November 25, 2008

This was given as a gift to my daughter. It was purchased in the US and mailed to us (Europe), so unfortunately returning it was not an option when, 2 days after Christmas, after being used a few times, for short periods, it died. When it did work, we found it annoyingly loud. Our daughter already had the Fisher Price Power Touch Baby, which we like much better, and - a huge plus - has adjustable volume levels.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am VERY impressed!, October 17, 2008

The other day, I went to the toy section in my local department store. The typical junk toys, but then I came across this. I am VERY impressed by VTECH, this is a great learning tool, and it is also fun. My son is only 1.5 years old, he had a death grip on this thing after I showed it to him in the store. Not only does it teach the alphabet, it gives you words and then you are supposed to press the button. So Simple, yet genius. There are other games that you can play, which seems simple. (I like simple). For 20$, this thing does a lot of stuff. A great teaching tool to learn the alphabet. The sound is very clear for the person saying the words, I was also impressed with the quality of the sound effects and songs. Best $20 I have ever spent on a toy.

I am sure if you studied this unit, you could find a few things wrong. I mean its 99% right, and maybe 1% flaw with it saying buttons. My one year old will not be scarred for life because it says "buttons" instead of button. Show me another toy that has big buttons that light up like this, and does all this unit can do for $20. It doesnt exist

To the people who say "it's not loud enough" or it's "too loud" there is an ajustment. And for those who said it is broken, we dropped this thing VERY hard, I mean slammed it and it still works. If you liked it, just spend $20 and get another...

I have a special needs child who absolutely loves this toy. Its actually the second one we own, the first only breaking after being smashed to the hospital floor. He has learned and grown tremendously and I even play the games with him!
