5.0 out of 5 stars vtech i6765 2 handset cordless telephone system, August 30, 2006

This review is from: V-Tech Cordless Dual Handset with Digital Answering System and Caller Id (Office Product)
The Vtech Model i6765 is a fine 2 handset, caller ID, answering machine, speakerphone. It lacks the Full color wallpaper screen that some other models have, but for our use, that's just gingerbread that wasn't necessary. Voice clarity of the dual handsets is excellent, as is the message reproductions. The ability to record and announce messages to other family members is a plus. The Fifteen minutes combined message storage is a bit less than other models but seems adequate for most needs. The 50 Name/Number capacity of the directory also is less than some other models but I believe it to be adequate for most users. The orange back-lit Caller Id screen was unique to me, but I think it is clear and I like it.
The negative features I`ve found are as follows:
The plastic wall mount bracket did seem a bit flimsy at first, however having mounting it to the wall, I believe it will do the job a long time, as long as the unit doesn't receive a major blow. That major blow would no doubt wipe out a sturdier bracket also. Likewise, I wonder if the handset belt clips will have a long life if used regularly. The User's manual is pretty well written, but one thing I found is that the character chart, that is to be used for entering names for the phone numbers in the directory, doesn't include the space. It is available, but it is not a character in the chart. It is entered with the up arrow key, (the down arrow key is backspace). It would have saved me a little time if I had found that information in the manual. The battery performance is given as being, 7 hours talk time and 3 Days on Standby. (Attn Vtech: Can't we do a bit better than that? The first Cordless I had in 1987 lasted a week on standby).
Summing up, there are some models with more bells and whistles than this model, but it does include the ones necessary for the average household, at a reasonable price and I do like it and recommend it highly.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad main base charger (happened twice), March 23, 2007

This review is from: V-Tech Cordless Dual Handset with Digital Answering System and Caller Id (Office Product)
The phone has some great features, I just wish that it worked properly. The main base charger stopped charging after a few weeks. Nothing I did could help it. I exchanged it for another thinking this was a freak problem. After a few weeks the same thing happened to the new phone. Now I'm temporarily swapping the batteries between handsets every couple of days just to keep the main phone charged. I just looked at some reviews online at epinions.com and all 3 reviews had the same problem. I just wish I saw them before now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Was great... while it worked., April 9, 2007
This review is from: V-Tech Cordless Dual Handset with Digital Answering System and Caller Id (Office Product)
I purchased this product about 6 months ago. Within the first week the first handset stopped working. Got a new battery for it, it still didn't work. I continued to use the remaining phone and the two chargers. Just this week the remaining handset stopped working in the same way. They just behave as though the battery is dead. (Nothing on the LCD, etc) Even if they are sitting on the charger.

Basically, I am forced to buy new phones already. While they were working, I received almost no interference from all the wireless devices in my home/neighborhood. The range was great, and I frequently used the speaker phone and no one could tell I was on speaker.

All in all if the lifespan had been longer than 6 months... this would be a much different review.
