5.0 out of 5 stars Great VTech phone
I have had many VTech phones. The LS6121 is my first Dect6. This was the easiest to set up. When you save a number on one phone it is saved on the others. Voice prompts take you through all the setup options.

There is no wall mount available. You cannot add extra phones. Tech support is only available at their website or by email. Email takes several days to...

This review is from: V-Tech DS6121-3 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System with Caller ID (Silver/Gray) (Office Product)
Note: I've also tried the Panasonic KX-TH1212 so will inject some comparison notes where differences stand out.

I like the phone's ergonomics. Good size, well positioned buttons, menus that make sense (unlike Panasonic's). Looks very nice without being overdone. Voice quality and range is very good, although, I thought Panasonic had a slight edge here. On the other hand, unlike the Panasonic, this VTech shows you the caller id sometime today.

Here is why it went back to the store:

- No headset plug. This kills it for me as I need to join conference calls when working from home. Speakerphone is not good enough. Actually, the speakerphone is another weak point. It seems to fade once in awhile. Panasonic's speakerphone didn't have this problem but I haven't used either for too long.

- Can not dial back a missed call. I mean, you technically can, but the Vtech insists on defaulting the number to 7 digits without the 1 in front. My phone provider requires the +1 to dial out. You have to press the `number format' button every time you want it to return a missed call so that it chooses the format you need. No, you can not program it to remember your preferred setting.

- No belt clip. My 7 year-old Vtech (the one I am unsuccessfully have been trying to replace) and the Panasonic have it. My wife can't live without it (and also the headset).

- Custom batteries. This is be biggest issue with my old Vtech. The battery replacement (which I am likely to need in a year or two) costs as much as a new phone. Panasonic uses rechargeable AAAs which makes a lot more sense.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok, but......, August 30, 2008

I had been shopping around for a cordless phone with 2 base sets and based on other V-tech reviews, I decided to try this one. It is nice, but the speaker for the handset I got seems a bit too low, even on the highest volume level. I find myself really having to concentrate to listen to the other person. Although, the speaker phone is great, but I don't plan on using the speaker phone all the time. I wish I could interchange the two.

The shared phone book is a nice feature and I have no complaints on the answering machine. But this was and probably will be my last V-tech phone. It is used now on the secondary line at the house, which is hardly used.

Phone reception is clear but reception distance leaves something to be desired. Also seems to be uni-directional in signal reception. Other than that, it is satisfactory.

1.0 out of 5 stars This thing is junk, February 3, 2009
This review is from: V-Tech DS6121-3 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System with Caller ID (Silver/Gray) (Office Product)
I was having difficulty with this phone on the day I bought it. I called tech support and they wouldn't even talk to me until I had had the phone for two days because they said it had to charge 24 hours. My question had nothing to do with the charge. After only a few months (5-6) the battery would go dead after a 15 minute conversation or after sitting out unused a few hours. We just stopped using it except for the answering machine. Yesterday I decided to try some new batteries. I get all my mail in my post office box. When I tried to get the batteries delivered to my po box, a message came up saying they didn't deliver to po boxes. When I put in my street address, another message came up saying my delivery address didn't match my billing address. So I couldn't place the order. Today while reviewing my online accounts, I noticed my visa was charged for the batteries!!!!!! This phone and this company are to be avoided.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice phone -- drops audio intermittently, April 15, 2010
This review is from: V-Tech DS6121-3 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System with Caller ID (Silver/Gray) (Office Product)
I purchased this phone around New Year's because it has the ability to pair a bluetooth headset to it. Initially I loved this phone, but have been experiencing intermittent problems with the audio completely disappearing. You'll be on a call and it's like your phone goes dead for up to 30 seconds. Very hard to carry on a conversation this way. Followed the troubleshooting steps on their web, didn't help. Email tech support and received a response I would have to call customer support and they provided a phone number. Couldn't understand the person I was speaking to and finally they told me it's because I have another phone plugged in my house and that they can't guarantee call quality. So basically I spent $90 for a crap shoot! Wouldn't recommend purchasing this phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars ***** THIS ITEM IS OUT OF STOCK !! BEWARE *******, December 31, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: V-Tech DS6121-3 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System with Caller ID (Silver/Gray) (Office Product)
BEWARE...

I have ordered this item on 28 DEC and received an email today saying that the product is out of stock and they could not give me a concrete delivery date (My original delivery date was between 6-11 Jan 2010)

I got a rude " DON'T KNOW " from the company's customer service for an answer to my order status.

I am very surprised to see the availability 'IN STOCK' for this product...

Please be careful and confirm the availability if you can before you actually place the order....

I am giving the seller a terrible rating on this order...

The service was great from Amazon and the V-Tech DS6121 system is great. It's the third V-Tech I have purchased. The speaker phone really comes in handy as well as the intercom. The tone quality is the best I have heard. I recommend Amazon and V-Tech.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing. Works without cords!, June 23, 2009
This review is from: V-Tech DS6121-3 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System with Caller ID (Silver/Gray) (Office Product)
When this item says it is cordless, it means it! After living with a corded phone for 89 years I finally gave in to this new technological craze, and I don't ever plan to go back.

Several years ago I bought a 25 foot coiled phone cord which allowed me to walk all over the kitchen when my children and grandchildren called. With the invention of the Softalk, I could even use both hands while talking. This phone has a feature that they call "speakerphone" which is like the coiled phone cord and Softalk combined into one. By pushing the "speakerphone" button one can simply set the phone down in the kitchen and continue having a conversation while working. And no more crick in the neck!

It gets better though. Through the miracle of science I can take this phone anywhere in my house and still talk on the phone. Even the garage!

Pros: Doesn't have to be hung on the wall. Can be used anywhere in the house.

Cons: To call someone you have to push on numbered buttons. I wish they had a rotary dial feature.
