4.0 out of 5 stars Wasnt going to buy this because of profanity BUT .....
I was reading the reviews and I saw that she swears. I like to buy "clean CDs" when possible. So, I researched the lyrics before I bought this for my 7-year old daughter. I was shocked that the bad word was "HELL". I am laughing that you are all so upset over the word "HELL". They hear worse on regular TV!! Or the school yard. Or from you! We should just be glad that is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Vanessa Hudgen's V - Album Review, September 26, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: V (Audio CD)
"Y'all need to get ready to hear the unbelievable, indescribable, Vanessa Hudgens," raps a guest star on Vanessa Anne Hudgen's (High School Musical) newest album, simply titled 'V'. Yet, after Hudgen's catchy R&B inspired single "Come Back To Me" ends I failed to see the unbelievable singer mentioned as the first track began. Hudgen's has musical capability, yet her CD fails to compare to earlier album's released by other Disney acts.

After "Come Back To Me", Vanessa sticks to the R&B vibe and let's loose on "Let Go" - a girls night out song that has a creative big band backtrack. "Say Ok", the album's first ballad, fails to bring any emotion. The guitar heavy girl anthem "Never Underestimate A Girl" comes next - the song is undoubtedly a tweenage spin-off of Destiny's Child's "Independent Woman". A beat driven "Let's Dance" comes next, but the muffled singing and hard guitar beats ruin the song. Hudgen's is at her best on the pop-rock songs "Drive", "Afraid", and "Rather Be With You", which resemble early Hilary Duff material. 'V' ends with "Lose Your Love" - a song reminiscent of Beyonce's singles. Other tracks include "Whatever Will Be", "Promise", and "Psychic".

Although 'V' has its faults, it's a solid effort; and even though Hudgen's has proved she has no problem pulling off any type of music, her next album should stray from dabbling in to many varieties of music as 'V' does.

We should just be glad that is the worst word on her CD. I am now buying this and will be giving it to her for Christmas. Seriously people ... you almost deterred my purchase. Glad I looked up what this "profanity" was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go Baby V!, March 9, 2007
This review is from: V (Audio CD)
I bought this CD with my Christmas money, and I was NOT disappointed! It starts out with the first single, COME BACK TO ME, it's a great song, but honestly not the best. Then the cool, layed-back track LET GO comes next. It's about being to lazy, and we can all relate to that! Then things get slow as her second single, SAY OK, which is about being too shy, plays. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A GIRL is a kind of girls are better than boys tone (I'm a guy) and it's not one of my faves. Then the album really heats up with the song that makes you wanna dance aptly tittled LET'S DANCE. It's a definate favorite! DRIVE is a song about getting away, or 'Breaking Free', get it! It's the second best on the CD. Then AFRAID is another slow song about being shy, but not as good as Say Ok. PROMISE is another song I don't listen to much. It's an upbeat song that's OK. Track number nine, my favorite is WHATEVER WILL BE! It's got outstanding lyrics and her vocals work perfectlyyy with the song! RATHER BE WITH YOU is a cool upbeat song. PSYCHIC is another just ok song about woring about boyfriend troubles. And finally, LOSE YOUR LOVE, rumors of being a third single, it is another great track. Good beat and lyrics. Hear is an overview of the tracks.
1. Come Back to Me (2:46)*
2. Let Go (2:47)*

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, December 14, 2006
This review is from: V (Audio CD)
I love this album. Although "Come Back to Me" was not the best choice for her first single, I still think that Vanessa has a lot of talent. I would have to say my favorite songs on V were "Drive", "Promise" and "Never Underestimate a Girl". I don't think she is just "one of those Disney girls" who thinks they can sing, Vanessa has real talent unlike some actresses on Disney Channel who just sing to be considered a triple threat, Vanessa actually is a as she demonstrated in High School Musical.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album Ever!, October 11, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: V (Audio CD)
Vanessa's new album "V" is the best album ever.

the song "Come Back To Me", which is the one i love the most, is like a story about a boy and a girl and the girl is telling the guy to come back to her and she can't take it is anymore.

the song "Let Go", is like a party and thats perfect for me, is where a person who has worked very hard and just want to relax and have a good time with friends.

the song "Say Ok", i like it cause its peaceful, is about a person who can be lonely and wants someone to tell her ok and have someone with her.

the song "Never Underestimate A Girl",i like it cause its about a spoiled girl like me kind of, is like telling people to never look down on a girl cuz she gets anything she wants every time.

the song "Let's Dance", i like it cause its dancing, is asking you to take her to dance and show her how to and its telling you to keep everything together.

the sond "Drive",i like it even if i don't drive yet cause its sweet, is telling you that she is going to drive her own her and on the highway.

the song "Afraid",its cool cause it kind of remind me of things, is asking you a question on why is she so afraid to break down and lose her heart again.

the song "Promise", i like it cause it has to do with promise and freedom, is like someone that wants to be free and promise herself that and she is nobody.

the song "Whatever Will Be", i think its great cause it tells me whatever will be is that, is telling that whatever will be will be and no one know what a shooting star will do

the song "Rather Be With You", i love it after the first song cause its cool and awsome, is telling that she will be with you and you're everthing and you're the one that's right for her.

the song "Psychic", its ok from my point of view but i like more love and romance songs but its great when you not felling good, are friends that is telling her things and where she stands and how does she knows.

the song "Lose Your Love", i like it cause thats what i did once! lol so it's good, is about the person that you use to love is long gone but she doesn't want to lose your love.

ok thats my summary of each song and the parts with commas are where i gave my opinion. i took parts form the song to put it together so you can see how the lyric are like. well i hope that my summary and point of view helped you and you will want to buy this EXTREAM awsome album "V" sung by the greatest singer ever Vanessa Anne Hudgens.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, September 28, 2006
This review is from: V (Audio CD)
now in the beggining of the cd u hear "come back to me" a very over exposed song but theres a reason its very catchy even with the sometimes silly lyrics
the song"let go" is a very catchy with some preety true lyrics its obviously one of her best personally i think that at least

"say ok " is a very frustraiting song where sometimes u feel like u want to go to the song writers house and personally punch them.....but the chorus does save the song from true horror

"never underestimate a girl" starts a little weird but in the first verese she picks it up..twords the chorus she gets a little kidish but overall its a preety good song

"lets dance" starts with a good beat and great vocals .....but her voice starts to sound electronic and muffled and the bass is way to loud, with no designated chourus its a little to creepy sounding for my taste

"drive" starts a little emo like but turns very insprirational
the overall theme of the song is very little kidish but the inspriratinal chorus save the song TOTALLY and is actully preety good song (with very good vacals at the end)

"AFraid" is seriuosly one of her best ever, her insprirational words and soothing beat truly hit a nerve and even tho she kinda losses her voice twords the lower notes she very great in this song

"promise" is kinda like "afraid" in the theme and in overall beat ...but her words are just as powerfull and make u put it on repeat for a long time ...though her words are a little odd her chorus and bridge, the song is WONDERFULL

"whatever will be" is reportedly vanessa's faveriote , shes got some good lyrics and preety good vocals...while the chorus"whatever will be, will be"is kind of confusing shes very good overall..tho stronger in the beggining than the end, shes still pulls it off

"Rather be with you " has a pop rock feel & is preety easy to listen to it's not at her best but definitly not her worst. her words are a little silly but over all the GREAT guitar chords really set this on fire

"physic" has a techno pop feel with some R&B undertones she sings very small<<wen u hear it ull get what i mean, twords the middle she perks it up a bit and over all it has a preety catchy chorus and will definntily be a tweenage hit

"lose your love" has a hip hop vibe twords the middle, while she proves she can pull it off shes very " only OK"...not really standing out in this type of music ...on her album this is great and overall a solid efort and very nice to listen to

overall a very good album i like that she dabbled into all types of music and sometimes i wish there were more "high school musical " esque songs but she proves she can really do ALL kinds of music and i think that does set her apart as a VERY talented artist

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Voice, Great Looks!, September 26, 2006
A Kid's Review

She's not only pretty, she's also talented - singing, dancing or even hosting? Her album shows off a different side of her - funky, wild and hot, unlike what she was in High School Musical - a brainy and quiet girl. There are songs that are nice to dance to, ballads and others. Great album indeed. It was worth the wait! Go Vanessa! :) I'm sure your album will have good sales and you've got a bright future ahead!

Vanessa Hudgens came onto the scene a few years ago starring in the hit disney made for tv movie "High School Musical." Many fans were shocked at how good her voice was. It's great compared to other high school musical stars like ashley tisdale or corbin bleu. She and Zac Efton were clearly the most talented out of the bunch. 2 videos came out from this album, the urban-ish "Come Back To Me" and the mellow "Say Okay" (her beau Zac Efton appears in that video). While it may not have had top 40 hits on major radio airplay, "V" is still a pretty good album. Her vocals are clearly the highlight of the album but the production is good too. She shines on songs like "Drive" and "Afraid." I think this album sold the best out of all the high school musical stars and I can see why. It's the best made from any of the disney stars. I normally don't listen to a lot of disney channel music but I like "V." I agree with Anthony Rupert that "Come Back To Me" is the best song on the album. If you were thinking of buying this album do it! You'll enjoy it just like I have.

I can't believe how well put together this album is. When I heard the first single, I thought, "well, this was the good track and the rest will be popish crap, filler". That couldn't be farther from the truth. With the pop to R&B to Rock feel in all of her songs it's a guaranteed success. I am happy to own this album and encourage everyone to get it if they haven't.
