4.0 out of 5 stars Nice monitor
First impression: it has a sleek, clean minimalist appearance. It seems to weight almost nothing and the stand is entirely plastic. The picture quality is very bright (I had to turn mine down to 70), colors seem accurate, and the picture and text are extremely sharp via DVI (cable not included). Some people have complained about a less-than-sharp picture. Those people...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for first 7 months
I purchased this monitor in August 2007. It was great out of the box. No dead pixels, awesome color, and I was very pleased. I never used the speakers so I don't have an opinion of them.

After having the monitor for 7 months is images on the screen began to have a ghost duplicate to the right, causing everything to look blurry, and unfocused. I...

This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
Those people must be LCD first-timers. I've had nearly a dozen LCDs in the past 5-years, and an important rule for LCD sharpness is they MUST be run at NATIVE resolution! Anything less than native resolution and you're asking for a blurry picture. The native resolution of this monitor is 1680x1050, so be sure your video card is up to snuff.

I found the speakers to be handy for Windows sounds. They're weak, but not the worst I've heard. They're comparable in sound quality to a clock radio or cell phone/PDA speaker. I have the volume cranked to max on the monitor and about 2/3 of the way up on the PC's volume control and that's about comfortable for me. The speakers are more suitable for an office-type environment, NOT for gaming or being immersed into music.

This monitor uses the same 6-bit TFT-TN Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) as most other 22" monitors, and ALL 22" monitors are 6-bit TFT-TN. A drawback to the CMO panel is backlight bleeding (slightly brighter glow on the edges when displaying a black screen), color temperature shift from top to bottom due to poor vertical viewing angles, and the fact that it's a 6-bit panel so it only displays a true 262k colors (16.2m is due to dithering). My particular monitor had almost no backlight bleed and the colors were good enough that it's difficult to notice it's a 6-bit panel. You won't find better picture than this in a Dell 22" or early Samsung 22" (225BW) because they use the SAME CMO panel (and so does Acer, Benq, HP, Gateway, Envision, Sceptre, etc - most 22" on the market).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal!, September 19, 2007
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
I purchased this monitor because of the price for the size. Some reviews said the built-in speakers were weak. That's true if you only adjust with your desktop sound button. However, if you go online to the products and download the user manual, you will see how to adjust the sound. It's auto set for 50%. I changed mine to 100% and scared myself! You use the buttons on the monitor to do - very simple.

So, if you want a big monitor with pretty good graphics, and good sound, then this is your monitor. No, I don't work for them, I just hate to see bad reviews when it appears to be the user's error.

The company should have made it easier to tell you how to adjust the settings though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it's suppose to...for cheap..., April 14, 2007
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
i'm giving it a 5 to balance out the overall rating of the product...some users have reported problems when those have nothing to do with the monitor itself..

considering i snagged this 22" lcd for $199 + tax at staples...it's a bargain..

it has high def resolution of 1080p and design is pretty slick with slim bezel..

speaker is nothing to brag..but who buys this for speaker? if anything i don't want extra chunky speaker attached to a LCD MONITOR..

it has both DVI and VGA...cheap models often come with only VGA input...this has both and DVI aids in visual improvement over VGA..

the fault i found on this LCD though..is that it has POOR viewing angle..from side to side..it is more than ok..but from top to bottom it is horrible..for example..if you move window from top to bottom in windows xp...that blue strip you see on IE6 will change color due to this..(from lighter blue to darker blue..tho not too noticeable when you are casual but it's there)

not too much of an issue at this price range though..but obviously if you do some kind of color critical mission or just overly sensitive to color uniformity..stay AWAY despite its price tag..i recommend Samsung,LG, or Dell for those color conscious users..

other than that issue..it does what it's suppose to do.. so if you can get over the fault..get it now..

After having the monitor for 7 months is images on the screen began to have a ghost duplicate to the right, causing everything to look blurry, and unfocused. I contacted customer service who suggested that I needed to update my computer. Instead I tried the monitor with 3 other laptops, all with the same problem. Because of headaches, I'm unable to use it at all and have had no success getting it replaced. I will need to purchase a new monitor, as this one is one is impossible to look at for very long.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bang for your buck, April 16, 2007
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
Strengths:
Inexpensive. Great contrast ratio. Good brightness. VGA & DVI Connections. 5 ms pixel response time. 3 yr warranty.

Weaknesses:
No height adjustment. Non-powered speakers (barely audible). No DVI cable. Have to go into the OSD menu to switch between inputs.

Summary:
I was able to get this for about $213 from Staples.com. I only dinged it a little for the weaknesses since I am not utilizing any of those features. I turned the brightness down & the contrast up. So having a lower brightness than a lot of the more expensive ones didn't really matter for me. I watched a movie & played a game on it with no ghosting.

My next purchase is a tuner card, so I can remove the 25" TV from my room. Not only did I free up some desk space, but I will free up a corner of my room. Size does matter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, February 25, 2007
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
I bought this monitor for less than $280.00 and I am totally satisfied with it's quality and performance. I upgraded from a 19" Viewsonic CRT monitor so this is my first LCD. I compared the V7 with other monitors costing much more and I couldn't justify paying the extra money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value!, May 27, 2009
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
I got this monitor refurbished at an incredible price, I think if I had paid the full price (of which I'm not certain what it is as I haven't been able to find many out there), I may have been a little disappointed. But as it stands I'm pretty happy.

The monitor is a tad flimsy but its not going to be moved so that really doesn't come into play much.
Its got a nice bright, clear picture that displays both text and images very crisply.

There seems to be quite a bit of backlight bleeding. This may be why this was a return so I can't say that this goes for all of these monitors.

Also the speakers are rubbish. Even turned up to 100% they are way too low to hear them. I didn't buy them for that but it would have been nice.

All-in-all I'm very pleased with this purchase. If I were to buy one new this would not be the monitor, but as I said it was just too cheap not to get it.

Now lets see if its still going after a year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Monitor, December 1, 2007
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
I've been using one of these for about 6 weeks, and I must say that I'm very impressed. The picture quality is great and I was able to find a good deal on it. I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking to get a large LCD monitor but not wanting to spend a lot of money on a really nice one.

Be warned, it doesn't come with cables (other than the power cord and headphone -> headphone cable), so you'll need to find your own VGA or DVI cable. I was under the impression that the frame was metal and was slightly disappointed to find out it was plastic, but in all reality it's not that big a deal.

Overall, it's a superb monitor.

I bought this monitor about 2 years ago and it has performed flawlessly out of the box ever since then. It is a very sharp looking monitor, the resolution is excellant. I have no gripes about it over 2 years at all. I highly recommend it. Upgraded from a 20" Dell Digital LCD to this and have not noticed any drop off in any respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great LCD Value, January 17, 2009
By
This review is from: V7 R22W02 V7 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor with Speakers (Electronics)
I own two of these V7 22" wide screen LCD's which I use in a wall-mounted, side-by-side configuration. Typically I have a browser or other research app running on one monitor and a document that I'm working on is on the other. I've been very pleased with the performance of the V7's in this configuration. This has turned out to be a great monitor for browsing, for office work for viewing photos and even for watching movies. The V7 delivers crisp, sharp images and excellent color rendition. Originally I connected the monitors to my PC using analog cables but the contrast ratio and image quality weren't the best. Some reviews suggested using a DVI digital connection, so I changed to DVI. Wow, it made quite a big difference! The results were excellent. For the price, these monitors can't be beat. Can't comment on the built-in speakers since I've never used them.
