Book Description

The final part of VAIN - a three part New York Times and USA Today bestselling series.

Alexa Jackson was falling hard and fast for Noah Foster. The world renowned photographer had woven a path straight into her heart. He offered her another chance at love and she offered him the path to a world that he no longer believed existed for him.

That all ground to a startling halt when Alexa came face-to-face with Noah's past. Not everything is as it seems and as he helps her piece together the puzzles that exist within his world, they both realize that their needs might not match what's best for either of them.

As Alexa begins a new life away from Noah, she's faced with new opportunity, past reminders and an uncertain future.

He can't face what's happened to him. She can't face a life without him. Will they finally discover a way to help one another find love again?

This is the final part of a three part series. The entire series is now complete and available as a bundled set here on Amazon!

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon, has never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She's a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you can often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan is definitely her second home.

She cherishes her family and believes that each day is a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thought I'd love it... August 29, 2014
By Lisa
Format:Kindle Edition
....but sadly I didn't. I think because they were broken up for the majority of the book, I didn't get a chance to experience that feel good feeling that one gets when reading about romances. Almost the entire book was about Alexa trying to get over him, or rather clinging to desperate hopes that he will come back. It made me feel pity for her but not in a good way. Her character turned pathetic.

Some things didn't't make sense. The beginning of the book had me shut down my kindle after the first couple of chapters. It didn't make sense why he was being so cruel to her and pushing her away without an explanation. Then near the end when they are back together and she brings it up, he simply states that he was an a-hole. If a man ever did that to me, there would be no second chances.
The ending was so rushed, my head was spinning and then it was over, leaving me feeling bereft.

I don't know...I wish I could give this a great review. I love Deborah Bladon books, all of them...except this one. I will still read anything she writes in the future. I'm obviously a minority with my feelings on this particular publishing. I'm so glad that many, many others enjoyed it so much.

**ARC given for honest review**
*This review may contain some spoilers*

I absolutely loved the first two books in Vain. I couldn't wait for the last book. And with all the push back of the release date (even though it was entirely understandable) I thought I would love the ending. The ending was good, but not great. I'm glad that Noah finally got his act together and realized that Alexa was what is best for him. But the build up to that was horrible. I skimmed through the parts when they were apart because for the most part it bored me or frustrated me. Instead of Alexa moving on with her life, she kept reverting back to obsessing about Noah and what he was doing. She kept trying to gain information from Hunter and Sadie by wondering if he still thought about her enough to call the restaurant. I was really growing tired of her obsessing and was glad when Noah did incessantly call the restaurant. But I was a little upset we didn't get to see his growth. We only "heard" about his growth. Only to realize that Noah hadn't really changed. He was only being selfish because he couldn't let her go. I wish Alexa would've had a little moe backbone when it came to Noah. I also wished that we could've gotten a peak into her fixing herself because Alexa still had some deep rooted issues. All in all, I'm happy with the way the book and series ended. I can't wait to read more from Deborah.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rebuilding a Life August 29, 2014
By DJ
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Alexa struggles to move forward without Noah.... she has tried to make sense of & understand why Noah has sent her away. With her 'walls' erected, feelings put away, she moves forward. A new city, a new job, determined to make each day count....along the way she is confronted with her past & people involved.....but nothing prepares her for the announcement that Noah is in town & placed a 'sandwich' order in the restaurant where she works.....the upscale restaurant doesn't have, but they do have Alexa. Taking the address she goes to confront Noah, what does it mean, what does he want??? .....he wants her, but can she live the guarded, hidden life he needs??? As they talk & struggle to rebuild their trust, their relationship, more 'walls' are torn down, more truths revealed. Love has healing & the gift of life for this couple.
Recommended reading....awaiting the next story.

I wan't crazy about Noah all the way through this series, but the story was compelling enough to keep going. It wasn't until the very end though that I became totally disappointed. After so much grief and misunderstanding, it seemed the author just neatly switched everything up in a matter of two sentences, and everything was suddenly hunky dory. This just seemed like lazy writing to me. And it was not the first ending to a series she's done this with. Not my favorite book. Sorry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bladon gives bland ending. August 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ehh. I wasn't as enthralled this time around. I felt there wasn't enough details to do the end of their story justice. Noah and Alexa deserved to be developed a lot more than they were in this last book. Not too crazy about this one.

I should have known I would be disappointed considering the way the second book read/finished. The first part of this series had me so excited for the release of the second. The second part was okay, followed by a dismal part three. I found myself reading just to finish the book, not because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Rather disappointed considering how great the series started.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Ending to An Interesting Trilogy August 29, 2014
By Connie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Any tension created in the first two installments of this series went out the window in Book 3. We are left with a huge cliffhanger at the end of Book 2 that can be explained away in one sentence. What could have been a very interesting story-line with Beck is blown out the window. The HEA is resolved too easily without nearly enough explanation and feels silly.

If you haven`t read Deborah Bladon`s novels before, I would start with a different series.

I put three stars on this book because I felt bad about putting two stars on it. It was almost two stars, though. I think if I was a meaner person, I'd give it two stars. My main qualm is the far-fetched nature of this book. Something didn't quite make sense. Our leading man is so insecure about the scar on his face that he's virtually house-bound. That's bad, right? That's dire. It isn't a life for him. He's missing out on the world. It's justification enough to get corrective surgery = problem solved. Yet he hasn't done this, and there is no mention of why. In fact, there's no mention of ANY attempt to sort it out. He has money for this, obviously, because he's willing to splash out on paying call girls to pose in a risqué manner for his photographs, so why not just get the face problem sorted so he can live his life? His priorities are out of whack if he's spending money on call girls to photograph, rather than getting his face sorted - even though that's so obviously the bigger issue. I mean, he's wandering around naked in order to feel more comfortable in his own skin, and he's complaining over the fact that call girls are the only ones who will have sex with him / let him photograph them, and he's moaning that he can never go out unless he knows the crowd and is comfortable with them, so let's just fix the face problem and these other problems will go away, right?

Where's the effort to fix it?

This was OMITTED, and that is my problem with this book. It makes Noah seem a bit hopeless. The author needs to justify why remedial action has not been taken. She needs to say why this isn't an option for him. Is he allergic to surgery or something? Does he not agree with it, even though his face is such an issue for him? Why? Does he not have the money?
