Steamy romance,
By Vampire Girl (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VAMPIRE: A sensual romance novella (Paperback)
I loved this romance novella. Both of the main characters were wonderful and I cared about them. The vampire violence is minimal and is totally over-shadowed by the romance, steamy lovemaking, and the interesting scenarios presented in each chapter. These vampires have already come to terms with being killers. So, they only do what is in their nature to do. Maybe people who do not like vampire violence should choose another book. But,it IS only a story. And, no one is actually getting killed. To take the killings seriously IS rather ridiculous.

Erotic Romance,
This review is from: VAMPIRE: A sensual romance novella (Paperback)
I enjoyed this romantic and hot vampire story. I liked both of the main characters and got caught-up in their tale. While some prefer to read about unnatural vampires like Angel, I don't. Seth is certainly no Angel, but I did find some goodness in him and fell in love with him anyway. I also liked his love interest, Nia. Her love for Seth caused her great woe.

Disturbed,

Despite the fact I liked Nia and Seth, I was sorely disappointed that they fell in love with no tension, no conflict. I also was disappointed in the author's rendition of a vampire. I enjoy the struggle a vampire has between its good and bad side. The fact they killed their quarry disgusted me.
I'm far from faint of heart, but could not get past the innocent lives taken.

I must worn potential readers that the vampires in this novella are killers, even the hero (if anyone can call him that). They kill their prey when they feed, so for me they have no redeeming graces no matter how polite, handsome, sexy, etc that they are. I really did not want to read more than the first few pages, but since I spent so much money on this very short novella, I thought I could probably stand to finish it. I found the writing less than spectacular also. The descriptions and scenes seemed to be written in an amateur fashion, so I could not think of the characters as "real." The two main characters fell in love so quickly that I had to read the page again to be sure I had gotten it correct. Nia was ready for Seth to make a move on her before he even came in the door. Others may like this sort of approach, but I need some buildup for the relationship to ring true. While I did like the mixed race content, the rest of it left me cold. Killer vampires are just not my cup of tea and I could care less if they meet their mates and live happily ever after. Just think of how many people over the centuries had their lives cut short so that these vampires could continue their existence. Even Nia's friend Imani is killed in the first three pages of the story. What more can I say.
