This book had a ton of information, but was missing quite a bit dealing with the items that were listed on the test.

As the test has a 'copyright' in place, I can't go into massive amounts of detail, but I will state that 10% of the test I took (8 questions) on VCB. The test is 75 questions. The book did not cover a single aspect covering any of the questions listed for VCB knowledge. That was a surprise for me.

As someone who took the authorized VMware training and I have 4 years experience with ESX, I figured a summary book would be a great reference point to refresh my knowledge before taking the test.

This book only refreshed a small amount of the data I required.

Yes, it was somewhat helpful, which is why it is 3 stars, but in reality, I am disappointed with the breadth of knowledge covered in the book. I had been hoping for more. Exactly what, I don't know.

I encourage you to get this book if you are preparing for the VCP exam. It will cover about 80% of the topics, but it is not all inclusive, be clear on that. I suggest you print out the exam blueprint (http://mylearn.vmware.com/lcms/mL_faq/1714/VCP3.5Blueprint.PDF) and check off what this book covers, and the seek out material on the gap. The 150 question practive exam that comes with the book is very helpful on assessing where you are.

I read through this book and took the practice test, which I scored a 96% on the first time. When I went to take the exam, I was no where near passing. Only about 15% of my questions even closely related to material in the book. It "does" cover the topics that the exam blueprint recommends, but DOES NOT cover the important concepts needed to be confident enough to pass the exam. Now, I am out $175 and cannot take the window for VCP310 anymore to be grandfathered to qualify for the VSphere4 exam, so my company is now out a couple of grand for another class. You should be ashamed of yourself. I'm not sure who "Elias Khnaser" is, but it's VERY apparent we didn't take the same exam!

This is a very helpful book, nontheless, I urged the readers to still read the supplemental vmware documentation, which the author provides the website. Good overall review and practice questions, It comes with a CD.

I read this book from cover to cover twice and could score 100% on the included practice exams and still didnt come close to passing. Save your money if you are buying this to pass the vcp exam. I went to the test center with high confidence and when I began the real exam I knew within the first 3 questions I was hosed. There was a lot of stuff on the real exam that this book didnt even remotely mention. Stay away if you want to pass the exam... a complete waste of my time.

I bought this book and studied from it and was consistently getting 96% to 97% on the practice test. I failed the test with a 50%. There were many questions about topics that were not covered in the material. I am so disappointed. This was a goal on my performance review at work, so now my raise is in jeopardy. What a crappy product. The author should be ashamed.

I was excited to finally see an Exam Cram on VMware. I have used EC books for helping with my Microsoft certs. I had already taken the official VMWare course months earlier and have the official study material. After I completely read through this book and started to circle back on specific areas I started noticing mistakes. Chapter 9 for example. Table 9.1 on page 177 is incorrect. All the multipliers are 4 times to high. Also in the second paragraph on the same page, the explanation of the vmkernel creating a swap file is wrong. Reserved memory can't exceed available memory. The example is incorrect.

Common sense says if it doesn't sound right, question it. Use other study material besides this book. Aside from the few mistakes I found, the book can work well with the official training material. It helped trigger areas where I needed to go back to the VMWare training material and brush up.

I would not recommend this book as it doesn't cover enough material to pass the VCP exam.

I'm getting ready to take the vcp exam and am finding this book beneficial as a brush up.

I bought this on my kindle and as I was reading the first couple of pages, it was obvious that had I bought the paper version, it would have come with a CD with practice tests. I e-mailed the publisher to ask if I could get a CD mailed to me since it obviously didn't come with the kindel version and I was told that if I wanted the CD I would have to "purchase the book new" as if I bought it at a garage sale or something. I explained again that I did purchase it new but they would have nothing to do with me. I will absolutly never ever purchase (kindle, paper or otherwise) anything from this publisher ever again and I would encourage everyone else to do the same. A historic disappointment!!!

After many conversations with the publisher, they decided to send me a CD. Actually they sent me the entire paperback book along with the CD. The publisher has redeemed themselves in my eyes.
