This review is from: VCT - 220V/240V AC 13A Universal Power Strip / Surge Protector with 6 Universal Outlets. 50Hz/60Hz - 450 Joules. CE Certified. Max. 4000 Watt Capacity - Heavy Duty European Cord (Misc.)
So far, I've used this strip in two countries, New Zealand, and New Caledonia. The later uses the EU standard. New Zealand, like the country has to be different. This strip has performed well during this trip. It weighs next to nothing and the plugs really are universal. I carry it with my laptop. Others have borrowed it using their own unique plug type. My original surge protector consisted of an eight pound transformer and an unprotected power strip. This is such an improvement. The only negative I have is that the US 2-prong plug tends to be a little loose in the outlet. This is not a serious problem though just a thought worth mentioning. It may be advisable to use a 3-prong US outlet when possible to reduce the risk of arc at 220 or 240 VAC. If this review was helpful, please add your vote. Thanks.

I took a trip across Europe, and this power bar was worth its weight in gold! I was able to charge my phone, camera, and video camera every night on my 18 day tour. It made my life very easy, as many of the hotels only had one plug. I am very happy with my purchase.

I am currently spending a semester abroad, and this power strip has been a life saver! I didn't have to worry about finding adapters for all of my electronics, they all fit nicely into this one power strip. There are only three outlets in my room between me and my roommate so I don't have to fight with her for outlet space! The other students with me are all jealous they don't have one! I like that it is wired with a European plug, so I didn't have to use an adapter for the plug itself. Most of the ones I found online accepted all plugs like this one, but were wired for an American plug. This power-strip is fantastic. It fits snugly in the outlet, and I only had it spark once when I plugged my computer in, (always plug the power in first before plugging in your computer!)

This worked out well for s when we were in Ireland - for cameras, cell phones, etc.. One thing to be certain of - you HAVE to buy a UK/Ireland adapter for it to work in Ireland and presumably UK. The strip itself has a Continental Plug.

I bought the power strip for a trip to Italy. Everything I read said that Italy used the "European" style plugs. When I arrived in Rome, the plug was the right shape, but the prongs were too big to fit into the holes. I was very upset about it, as I had several items that needed charging. Very luckily there was a single USA compatible plug in the restroom that I was able to use to charge my phone and computer.Fast forward a few days to our arrival in Tuscany. I tried the plug in hopes that the hotel in Rome was just weird. Luckily it fit, though snugly. I was able to use it for the week I was there, and that stopped me from sending it back with a very negative review. All in all, it did was it was supposed to, for half of my trip. Therefore, I give it a half decent rating. Maybe they should adjust the size of their plug prongs.

I reluctantly purchased this device because of the number of electronic items I was bringing on my trip. When I received it I couldn't believe how big it was. We were going on a three week trip to Barcelona, Rome, Florence, and Venice and there wouldn't be room for something extra that we might not use. It turned out to be one of the best purchases we could have made. We used this to charge a Macbook computer, a digital camera, two camcorders, a cell phone and an electric razor. Without this device we would have had to juggle our electronic items to keep them charged. It is BIG, but what a great convenience to have all of our electronic items charging at the same time. I also want to mention that the Florence hotel we were staying in had smaller outlets than the other hotels - meaning the two pins wouldn't fit into the two pin socket. Luckily there was a one socket to three socket adapter plug in the wall (for the TV and cable box) and we were able to force it into one of those sockets. When it was time to leave I was afraid we weren't going to get it unplugged because it was such a tight fit, but we eventually did. That's why I gave this product a four star rating instead of five.

We're in Southern France right now, using our surge protector/adaptor every day. It's working perfectly, and we've had no problems with computers, kindles, electric razors, fans, etc. We have thunderstorms about once a week, and this little device helps ease our worries of a laptop-blowing surge of lightening. Definitely worth the extra space in our pack (and the extra money, I think). An added bonus: because we're staying in an old building, we haven't got many outlets. This device allows us to plug a couple of things in at once, some using French plugs, some using American plugs, though we try not to overdo it and have never had more than 3 things plugged in at once.My parents recently blew two American electric toothbrushes in England. I haven't tried this adaptor in England yet, but it works beautifully here, and my impression is that if they had splurged on a nice adaptor like this one, they would still have working toothbrushes. (Or they could just do what the rest of us do and bring low-tech toothbrushes in the first place!) KC

Power strip for Italy. Outlets can be limited and not where you actually need them. I have a CPAP machine and needed by bed, but not all hotels have plug by bed. Also had phone, cameras, ipad, etc..... Nice long cord. Just what I needed. A little large, might not fit in a carry on.

I purchased this for a recent trip to France. It was a LIFESAVER!Note, this is NOT a voltage stepdown device - it's just a plug adapter. All our devices had 110-240 rated plugs. Hotel rooms in France usually have one open outlet - in the most inconvenient location possible. This power strip let me plug in, and then be able to REACH the outlets! And, Mom and I were able to charge all our devices as needed. Yes, the strip looks large - but it's VERY light - added almost nothing to my bag's weight, and it tucked easily into the empty edge spaces. I'd buy this again and again - but now that I have one, I won't need to. It'll come with me to Europe every time!

I purchased this power strip and surge protector for my trip to Paris. It is fantastic. Each outlet is universal so you don't need any adapters (unless you need one for the plug itself depending on which country you are visiting) We had several electronics to plug in, mostly US plugs, but we also have an international cell phone with a UK plug, and several appliances in the apartment that were French plugs. All went into the surge protector with no problems. It is a little on the larger side, but still fits easily in your bag. The only con is that not every plug fits snug. Nothing major, just a bit loose on some items but not to the point where the plug is falling out or anything. I would imagine that this would be fantastic for European hotels where plugs are sparse.
