4.0 out of 5 stars good white light but early model didn't last
This is the only true white light I can find for par 20 light cams. plus very low energy use. light is dim but good enough for kitchen when not cooking. Only problem is bulbs don't last - burned out in months of part time use when should have lasted for years. Much better buy at $9 than they were at $24. Amazon refunded/replaced my first 3 no questions asked. However,...

Really don't bother..

I ordered four of these and installed them in our Kitchen High Hat lighting. The light from the bulbs was not quite what I was expecting, which didn't concern me, and I quite liked the light it produced.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother, May 20, 2009

Really don't bother..

I ordered four of these and installed them in our Kitchen High Hat lighting. The light from the bulbs was not quite what I was expecting, which didn't concern me, and I quite liked the light it produced.

one of the main reasons I bought the bulbs was, I imagine, just like you, be greener and reduce costs over the lifetime of the build. The manufacturer indicated 50,000 hours so it seemed like it would be worth the additional cost for the bulbs.

The issues came a little over a month of use, since it's installed in a kitchen it only gets use about 1-3Hrs a day. After this time the light began to fail. One by one each one started to provide a light show, where half the led's would flash on and off until the lamp got bored and the the flashing half would stop working all together. a few days later and the lamp fails entirely.

So within a month and a half of use, here's what we ended up with:
Bulb 1 - Dead
Bulb 2 - Half LED's Failed
Bulb 3 - Dead
Bulb 4 - Half LED's Failed

Conclusion... Don't bother. You can't be green with this bulb.

Cheers
Wavers

1.0 out of 5 stars This is a white light not a warm light., November 24, 2008

EDIT: This was a great bulb till it died a month later. I contacted the manufacturer and they stated they can not warranty the bulb, in spite of it stating a 2 Year Warranty on the package. They said I have to go through Amazon. Amazon states I can no longer return the bulbs.

DO NOT BUY!

I have found that these lights are pretty amazing. It meets the specs on the bulb. It uses very little electricity. It is a non-glare. The light is in the white spectrum, not the normal warm color of a floodlight.

Problems that happen when people use these:

1. They want a warm glow, like you would find in an incandescent.

2. They want a bulb that pumps out the same amount of light, so they can't look at it like a normal bulb.

I am using these bulbs in my kitchen. I am very happy as I replace the old incandescent bulbs. They do not seem as bright, but if you measure them with a light meter, it is labeled correctly.

3.0 out of 5 stars This bulb would be great for a flashlight..., May 7, 2007
This bulb does not provide enough light to be a useful replacement for a Par20 in ordinary room lighting. It's okay for accent lighting, though the bluish tint may not be suitable for all purposes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Expensive and dim, August 28, 2008

I bought three of these to replace the spots over our kitchen sink, and I'm disappointed. They give only 80 Lumen light output, which is much dimmer than the ~500 Lumen bulbs I was using before.

4.0 out of 5 stars Led Floodlight, November 29, 2008

These bulbs work well in a kitchen range hood. The previous lights put out a lot of heat, adding to the hot kitchen. These are cool even after hours of use. The only negatives are that they are not as bright as I would like, and the cost is high. I think the cost will come down over time, as they are very energy efficient.

This review is from: VFL Par 20-LED Floodlight Bulb (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased 36 flood lamp bulbs for one of my offices. 14 bulbs failed within 3 weeks. The remaining bulbs lost their light quality within a few weeks, and I was forced to replace them. Neither the manufacturer nor Amazon were willing to refund my money. Under no circumstance do I suggest anyone either purchase these bulbs or deal with this seller!

1.0 out of 5 stars luminosity way too weak, August 3, 2009
This review is from: VFL Par 20-LED Floodlight Bulb (Tools & Home Improvement)
The luminosity output is way too weak, seems a small fraction of the incandescent PAR20. Combined with a very cold color, the effect is gloomy, spooky.
Not recommended as a direct replacement of a PAR20.

Who wouldn't want a bulb that was the ultimate in energy efficiency that lasts virtually forever? Sounds too good to be true? It is. This bulb is so dim that it just can't be used as a replacement for a normal PAR 20. Maybe someday LEDs will improve sufficiently to make the promise live up to the expectation.

I have purchased five of these for a floor lamp If the floor lamp only had one lightbulb socket i would be in the dark. with the five going it is subtle but still bright enough. I would have to hold off until i am able to recommend this bulb to anyone. I bot them because i am a gadget-o-haulic :) LED lightbulbs do have a nice glow to them I do like them better than the CFL bulbs in the bathroom. the technology needs a bit more R&D before they can be main stream. of the five i purchased a few months ago two have gone out. it was a fireworks spectacular when they did start to burn out, over two or three days. they flashed like a strobe light and now two of the five socket in the floor lamp are dark, the light from the remaining three is not that bad, but it is dim and i have to get some replacements. the replacements will still be LEDs but probably with 36 LEDs or something because i still need to be cautious of my power consumption and the temperature of the actual bulbs so they don't cause a heat fire.
