Great Game!,
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: VG Pocket Max 75 Games (Video Game)
The VG Pocket Max is awsome! I'd have to say I like all the games, but my favorite has to be Jewels or Starcraft Attack. I haven't been able to find this system in any other colors though. I also would like to note hat the screen is actually a TFT screen (like a computer monitor). I am very impressed by this game system. The Jewels game seems almost identical to Columns for the Sega Game Gear (another great system and game). I would say this is a great sytem for most ages. If your little brother/sister wnats to play, let them play Penguin Island.
Pros: 75 games wrist strap TFT screen Cons: Cheap knock off of some games no saving I would like to add that I can't find my AV cable for my system, so keep yours where you can find it. -Sonic

I've owned the VG Pocket Max for over a year now, and it's still fun to play. While it's graphics and sound capabilities are somewhat "vintage" for such a relatively new device, there are abundant positives with this system.
THE PROs: 1) The AV cable which allows you to play games on a TV is handy. While the VGPM comes with a respectable 2.5" TFT screen, the gameplay is better on a television. 2) Battery consumption is very economical. I've played for hours and hours, yet I can't remember changing the batteries more than once since purchasing the unit. 3) For the most part, there is something for everyone. Not every one of the 75 games is a masterpiece, but you'll find plenty of challenging titles on the VG Pocket Max. 4) There are no cartridges to take out, put in, or lose. Everything you need is right inside! THE CONs: 1) The sounds are basically the same for every game, and the built-in speaker is of marginal quality. 2) The graphics remind me of the original Nintendo console from the mid-80s. Some people may find this "retro style" charming, but I was a little disappointed that the system didn't incorporate more modern visuals. 3) Documentation (especially game instructions) for the product is very rudimentary. I guess the manufacturer intended this device to be a puzzle which the owner has to figure out on his or her own. There are brief descriptions for all 75 games in booklet form, however most users will have to learn the details by employing good old-fashioned trial and error. Like I said, not a perfect gaming machine...but if you liked the NES or Atari 2600/5200/7800, then you'll definitely enjoy a VG Pocket Max.

I got this handheld game for my son a few years ago and he still plays it all the time. He even has a DSi now, but still goes back to this old favorite. It has games of every kind on it and is easy to figure out and operate. My daughter wanted one also, but they were sold out.
