This cable is RGB not component video. The reviewer that stated the pigtails were not shielded was mistaken, they are. If you are trying to connect AV equipment to a computer monitor this is not the cable. If you have a home theater computer with separate Red Green and Blue outputs and your monitor has a VGA input this is the cable you need.

Given the product's title: VGA to Component Video, you would expect to be able to take this cable and connect the VGA plug on your computer to the Component inputs on your TV.

Well that does not work at all. Some reviewers have stated that the cable works for other purposes. If so, great.

However I ordered this cable based on the title, and it did not work at all for that purpose.

It almost feels like fraud to state "Component Video" in the title, when in fact this cable is not outputting component video.

To connect a VGA computer jack to a component HDTV input you need a converter. I have a 2005 Toshiba Laptop with a S output and a VGA. It works OK with the S cable, but no one on any website has stated that JUST a cable will work connecting to a HDTV, only a projector. I purchased this cable to go from my HDTV cable box component outputs to the VGA input on my ViewSonic projector. It works perfectly and is a definite improvement over the S-Video cable I was using. Shipping was fast and the cable is well made & sturdy. I would definitely buy from this company again!

this cable DOES NOT i repeat DOES NOT work for hooking your computer up to your television, do not let the word component in the title fool you as it did me.

we needed a cable to connect our dvd player to an lcd projector over vga...worked great.

Ok, I am basically going to sum this all up. If you have a laptop, or pc, and would like to connect it to a tv. It works. People are just mad on here cus they got jipped from their own lack of knowledge. They all seem to have RCA inputs, which is Yellow, Red, and White. If that is what you have, dont buy this. BUT if you have a RGB input, buy this :D I bought this not reading the reviews, then went back just to see how long the cable was, and out of curiosity. Then I was pretty worried...Butt, after getting it, it worked. Yah, there inst audio, but I had a cord to complete that. You can go to the 99 cent store n get one there that will work off your headphone jack to the tv. easy as that. But if it doesn't work with that, then just call the company that makes your computer, and they will tell you that your computer does support it, you just need to edit some settings. This is technology. If you have they connections available to go from one thing to the other, THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY TO GET IT TO WORK! I would know this, I take tech to extreme lengths as my job. haha.

In spite of the reviews, I purchased this cord based on the picture showing a 15 pin cable. What arrived was a 14 pin. Was told that the #9 pin wasn't necessary with newer computers and televisions, but since I have older items, it was necessary to have that pin. If you have older computer and television that you want to connect, this is NOT the cord for that purpose and won't work. Be sure to check with the seller before purchasing to make sure the cord matches the picture, if you dare...

I do not want to sound like those who just scream how horrible a product is but this product is MISLABELED.

What this cable is is RGB - VGA cable. Component, which has the same looking connectors (Red, Green, Blue) is NOT THE SAME. I guess this would work if you are plugging it into 2 RGB - VGA units but I was not. I was using this to go from a Nintendo Wii component to a LCD Monitor (ASUS VH236H) VGA RGB input. Even though everything connects, I got no video. I tried this cable with 2 dvd component outputs to a RGB VGA input on a tv and got nothing. The dvd players and Wii work with the component input of that tv. To do what I was looking to do I would need a composite to VGA converter like the HD Box Pro.
