Product Description

Color: Clear Coat

VHT SP184 Clear Coat High Heat Wheel Paint is a polyurethane paint specifically designed for steel and aluminum wheels. VHT wheel paint provides a great finish and real protection for all standard and custom wheels. Wheels take a beating both on and off the road from sand, salt, sun, brake dust and rocks which severely damage the appearance and protection of the wheel surface. This unique product resists chipping, cracking and fading, while protecting the wheel surface from oxidation. Careful preparation is essential to insure proper adhesion. VHT wheel paint is part of a multi high performance coating system. The coating system products consist of primer, paint, and clear coat. VHT wheel paint dries to the touch in 30 minutes and completely over night. Complete application and instructions are also printed on each can.

I bought this paint to paint my rims on my car. I followed the direction according to the back of the can and the wheels came out great. I bought 2 cans of clear for four 17in wheels and that did 2 light coats and one wet coat. The clear made the wheels even glossier, which is what i was looking for. I feel that this paint is far supior to others. The easy spray nozzle is also great can causes less fatigue. I reccommend VHT wheel paint clear to all. Time will only tell how it holds up, i will write again in time and review more. Thanks

Great for protecting. However, it is not clear. It goes on a light gray and polishes to a shiny smooth surface, but not clear. Great for adding a protective shell as long as you are not putting it over color.

It is definitely not a clear coat. Compared to Wurth GL Clear Laquer Spray Pnt it is opaque and dull rather than clear and glossy. I ordered several cans to find this out and it can't be returned because it is classified as a hazardous material.

buyer beware. this product goes down well but be careful about putting it over anything other than a bare metal surface. I put it on top of black VHT Epoxy paint and it attacked the finish. no amount of prep work for painting prevented this. When it dries it looks good but the areas that were attacked need to be re sprayed. 2 stars for lack of a warning on this reaction.

Loved the look for this on my wheels! It went on perfectly and I did two coats just to make sure I got it all on.. after it sat for a few days I found that my whole car just looked better with this paint and I would do this again for the next car I get! only issue I found with this is that due to all the snow we've had in the past few days, the salt on the roads tore up some of the paint which really sucks. but it doesn't matter since it still looks great from this paint! I would recommend this to anyone!

I used the VHT clear over the VHT black wheel paint after letting the black dry 30 minutes as instructed on the can. After 2 light tack coats I tried to get a medium wet coat but it wouldn't flow very good. The more I put down the more it looked milky. Normally milky looking clear is due to moisture or cold surface temps but I shot my wheels on a day that was 80 degrees ( in the shade ). To try and salvage my work I moved them into the direct sun and let them bake as the day warmed to 95 degrees. This indeed saved the day and now the wheels look great with a nice gloss black. The heat curing helped eliminate the dry spots on the sides of the spokes too. Polyurethane should dry hard but time will tell. I'm going to let them cure for a few more days in the direct sun. BTW it took one can per wheel of both color and clear. I was able to prime each wheel with a half can of primer. My only complaint is that I had to clear the spray head more that I would have liked - keep a can of lacquer thinner close.

Overall I'm happy with the results on my wheels using rattle cans. You would be hard pressed to tell them from powder coated wheels.

Worked well looked great on 1990 35 th anniversary Tbird SC with black wheels sanded them down took all the clear coat off cleaned wheels. Here I am 7 months later and its looks like it did before I painted then. now I have to sand them again and find a better clear coat.

First, I used this product as a topcoat over other VHT paint. I had some chrome-covered plastic wheel hubs that were peeling horribly, so I removed all of the chrome, and first I painted with the VHT primer (self-etching). When dry, I water sanded with 600 grit, and then sprayed with VHT silver paint. When dry, I coated with the clear coat. Outstanding results. Looks good, and so far has been very durable. After dried, I then put a coat of Nano wax on over the finish. This is on my hunting truck, so these have been subjected to mud and grime, and just rinse clean.
