True to size, I was skeptical at the sizechart provided by Amazon, but decided to take a chance.
Running, hiking, trail-running, lifting, biking, lifting, blah blah blah.
Perfect fit, very comfortable, and I've used them in every exercise session since receiving them.

Product Description

MINIMALIST RUNNING / BAREFOOT RUNNING The typical human foot is an anatomical masterpiece of evolution with 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 muscles, and hundreds of sensory receptors, tendons and ligaments. To keep our feet healthy, like the rest of our bodies, they need to be stimulated and exercised regularly. Many experts believe the shoes we wear not only cast the foot in a protective form, but can also weaken our foot and leg muscles, leaving them underdeveloped and more susceptible to injury. And while there are many occasions where traditional footwear is essential for protection, safety, and security, it is equally important to stimulate and exercise our feet in a more natural state on a regular basis.

I began running in the Vibram KSO's about a year ago and average 20-25 miles per week in them (once I built the requisite foot/calf strength). The TrekSport is a great upgrade over the KSO simply because the sole of the TrekSport is thicker and cleated. This is a critical fact if you plan on trail running. I found the KSO's sole to be too thin when running off road, especially on pea-sized gravel as you will feel this through the shoe; you will be shielded from gravel in the TrekSport. Also, with the TrekSport, you will not lose "ground sensitivity" with the thicker sole. Finally, the microbial addition in the TrekSport makes them less odorous than regular KSOs with prolonged use. My old KSOs continually smelled even after several machine washings. If you are in-between sizes, you should opt for the larger size so that your toes will not be cramped in the toe pockets. I am a size 10.5 and the TrekSport 42 size worked best for me.

I did a lil research on these shoes before I bought them...also, I bought the regular KSOs before I bought these, and running in the regular KSOs vs treks is like night and day...The treks are awesome cuz they have thicker soles therefore you don't feel most of the rocks that you might encounter. The kangaroo leather tops are super soft, they don't offer much for breatheability, but they do protect the foot from dust. All in all they are a great shoe, so buy them!

Finally took 'em out for a run this morning.... burst out like a screaming banshee on my 1st and fastest lap EVER... then my strides and tempo got all messed up... managed to do only half my usual distance. Definitely feelin' the lower calfs, the quads and the glutes now...

Stance definitely feels more natural during Martial Arts practise, Toes grip better naturally. Only issue to note is that the rubber soles gets slippery on a wet smooth surface.

Will take the body awhile to re-adjust to these shoes, but definitely keepers.

I was looking online for the KSO Trek Sport. Once I found out that they were only sold in stores (as stated on Vibram's site) I looked elsewhere hoping there was a store that sold their products online. My lucky day amazon had such a seller. The name was changed for some reason (sold on amazon as M118 Vibram Sprint) but it was the exact pair I was looking for. The same feel and fit as Vibram's sprint, but with the tread necessary to make taking them off-road more comfortable. A great buy for anyone who trains on and off road. The tread makes a huge difference between this pair and the original Sprint. Great buy.

I, like a lot of other 5 fingers wearers, get a lot of attention while wearing them (I've worn them to play soccer, softball, basketball, running and sprinting, but yet to use them for hiking). After running in them several times, I could feel a huge gain in my feet strength. I could now sprint much faster, jump higher, and leap farther with these 5 fingers than with regular running shoes. They are really lightweight and durable, hard to put on the first time but will eventually get easier as you get used to them. True to size, I was skeptical at the sizechart provided by Amazon, but decided to take a chance. My longest foot is 10 1/4" so I crossed my fingers and picked 42 which came to fit perfectly. But there are cons, though. I got blisters the second week of running in them, which was probably caused by "overheating" and debris which bring me to 2nd cons. These shoes will get extremely hot if you run for more than 15-20 mins in warm weather so you might want to get some socks (which I don't own any). Also they stink, I now have to wash them after every use. I'm not sure if the odor is from my blisters (not serious btw) or from the material but it is unbearable. I haven't any problem running in them as far as having flat feet goes.

Did I mention that these shoes look cool?

These shoes are probably not for everyone. They are hard to put on and take off. I use them with Injinji socks because when I don't my feet get blisters. I'm in Afghanistan and run 3-7 miles on a treadmill every day. This is the second pair of Five Fingers I've owned. At the time of this review I am 40-years-old and a former Marine. My knees tend to ache after I run more than 3 miles in regular sneakers. Not the Five Fingers. When I run in them my calves hurt instead. It's a good hurt though - muscle pain rather than joint pain.

Trust me, muscle pain is better than joint pain. I'm not a scientist or medical health care professional but I do listen to the pain in my body at 40. Do yourself a favor and try the shoes - you won't be disappointed if you don't overdo it the first few times you go out for a run. Be cautious if you are running on sharp gravel or other surfaces with lots of pointy obstacles. These shoes are fine to run on rounded gravel but they don't have the same padding as standard issues running shoes.

BUY THESE SHOES. I've had knee problems since I was in high school, which unfortunately was more than a few years ago. I recently started getting into the Primal lifestyle ([...] if you're interested). As part of that, I need to walk around a good bit. With my old football injury, that was a painful proposition.

I first purchased some Fila Skeletoes at a local Dick's Sporting Goods. They were decent and I could see that the concept was true, but the shoes came up just a bit short. So I decided to go for it and purchase these bad puppies. Man am I glad I did so.

I've gone for a 4 mile walk and by the time the walk was done, my legs were sore, but my knees were remarkably pain free. I won't lie, they take some getting used to, but once you get past the looks and learn to really walk properly in them, they are bar none the best shoes on the market.

I've gone walking through a plowed pasture and got incredibly dirty. Tossed these spectacular shoes in the washing machine (just follow the directions) and let them air dry. Good as new.

The price tag isn't cheap, but quality seldom is. I recommend these and plan to purchase a few different styles in the coming months. Do yourself a favor and pony up the dough. You'll be glad you did.
