This is a great patio set. However, it comes unfinished- mabe a little stain sprayed on but no sealeant. I recommend you spray on a good sealeant, sanding and spraying a second coat.(I used a tung oil)You will still get some splitting at the finger joints of the table (they are small 1/16th cracks) even with sealing the wood.
The chairs need to be sealed also but I've seen no splitting/seperation of joints.
It is a good looking patio set. I've only had it one season. Will know more after next summer- 2011.

The table and chairs are both beautiful and well-made. The chairs are very comfortable, and the adjustable reclining backs (several positions from straight to leaning fairly far back) is a great feature. When I received the items, everything set up easily except that one chair was damaged - a bent piece of hardware under the arm had torn the adjacent wood. I called the manufacturer (VIFAH), and they sent out a replacement immediately. Outstanding!
