I used to play violin 20 years ago. I wanted something to play around on. Was a little wary of something so "cheap" price wise. When I received my violin I was pleasently supprised. I think the quality of this product is equivelant to one that you would pay 200-300 dollars for. Very nice. Can't go wrong. Would highly recommend.

As a more classical violinist, I have always played on an accoustic. Recently, I have been doing more "band" and "rock" performances, so I decided to invest in an electric. This is a great violin, not stellar enough for recording probably but good enough for fun stage shows. The unique body style attracts lots of attention from audience members and the ability to use it as a practice violin while my daughter is sleeping (you can still hear it when "un-plugged", just very soft) has been an added bonus. As for quality of sound, well, I guess I'm just spoiled to the nice robust tone of my accoustic. Maybe with more amplifier experience, I may be able to achieve a better quality?!? This violin does come with a terrific soft case, all the cords needed, a set of headphones and a bow. I will note that the bow is pretty cheap (fiberglass I think) - not the worst bow ever made but you may want to replace it with a better quality one. Also, you will probably need to take it to a music store or violin maker to have the bridge placed properly and buy some additional fine tuners/peg dope (they only send you one on the E string) and the quality of the tuning pegs isn't the best. However, having sounded so negative... I am loving playing it! What a rush when you hear your high A tremolo come out of the amp! An exciting product of musical technology!

This is my first violin so I did not want to spend a lot. Previous reviews stated that the strings supplied would break when you tuned them, and sure enough they did, so not surprised. Once the strings were replaced I've had no problems since, and this violin has been working and playing great. If you're looking to see if you may like the violin, want to get the basics of playing and fingering, and do not want to disturb all those around you, this would be a good choice. The cons are the ear-phone supplied -there is a hiss, but then again, like the strings, I'm sure they're cheep. Saying that, I really do not use them at all as there is plenty of sound, just not enough to bother all those around you.

Slick and interesting design, fits nicely in your hands to play. I bought this for a young man who just wanted to try to play electric violin for fun. The strings broke immediately, and we bought tuners to go with it, separately. After changing these things, it's a honey. This being his first violin, I can't attest to the sound quality--maybe in a few months...?

This is a pretty solid Electric Violin. The plastic makes it light to hold, and that may be an issue for some as I like to feel the weight of an instrument to make it feel solid. The shoulder rest materials they give you are not worth installing, since they just fall off, and you would be better off to make your own, or buy one. Otherwise it sounds good and the headphone option is nice even though somehow this violin makes it's own reverberations without it, so you can also hear it without amplification or headphones, it just doesn't sound that good. Remember that if you have headphones on playing it next to someone.

It does the job. The sound quality isn't amazing and as somebody said, it's a good idea get a new bridge (the one that came with it was too high I believe). It's nice for casual use as well as people who like to run crazy effects through the violin.

i bought this violin and an amp recently. i am an experienced violin player, so i fixed the bridge, but when i tried to tune the e string, it snapped. i happened to have an extra for my acoustic, so i put that on and it has worked great! i LOVE the earphone plugin, because it gives me the normal sound, and it is quieter for anyone else in the house. this violin also has pretty good tone without earphones or an amp. i had to replace the shoulder rest, though, because it was pretty cheapy and to flat for me. ( i unscrewed it and now use a normal shoulder rest.) the bow is made of fiberglass, and is very cheapy,so i use my bow from my acoustic. i really like this violin, but if you're not willing to put alot of effort into "customizing" it, then this might not be for you.

I bought this for my daughter, its a great toy and a very beautiful object and it sounds nice but more experienced reveiwers are right that the strings are stiff and the bridge is high and the bow is too soft. I will have to take it somewhere to get it spruced up so that it is easier to use. but all in all I am glad I bought it.

This little instrument is a fine piece. I ordered it because i am interested in the violin and wanted to try it out before I really commit to spending serious time or money on the violin. plus it being electric means I can enrage my neighbors with it hooked up to my dads Fender.

This violin is very light and quite pretty, even if i choose not to learn it i could easily hang the instrument up on a wall as a decoration.

the set comes with everything you need to get started. Following the guides from [...] I had the instrument creating sound in a matter of minutes and tuning was a breeze.

the only complaint i have is that the headphones that it came with are 3.5mm which doesn't fit in the violins only output, which is just weird, why would they give me headphones that don't fit the only plug on the thing? other then that they are great headphones for my MP3 player.

This is a very fine little instrument--it functions well and it is not hard to look at either--with its very futuristic appearence and attractive styling if it ever became unfunctionable for what ever reason it would still make a great decorative piece, I will state for the record that the company that shipped the unit to me must have been in one damned hurry to close out the day or get the item on the truck as it was very poory packaged and although not damaged it was nearly hanging out of the box when it arrived at my home.
