If you take the time to read his seller profile, you'll see plenty of unsatisfied buyers such as myself who have waited forever for our purchases, and receieved no communication from the seller! I bought this dumbbell set, it did not come cheap after shipping, but I really liked how it came in a case, plus the pieces looked nice. After 2 weeks of no confirmation of delivery and no contact from the seller until the last minute, I finally received my item and they were nothing as shown in the picture, nor as described! My shipment only came with 34lbs, not 40, and there was NO CASE!!!!

It came with NO CASE, they were all put in little plastic bags and some of the dumbbells had some grease-like substance on it. The plates looked NOTHING as pictured, they were black and were made from some cheap plastic. This was by-far the WORST experience I've ever had, since I've been using Amazon for the past couple years. If I was you, I wouldn't even gamble on buying whatever this guy sells. BUYER BEWARE!

With the recent birth of my new daughter, I wanted to get back into shape, so she wouldn't think of me as "old fat Dad." Well, my loving wife got me this weight set, and I am very pleased with it. The kit consists of two dumbbell handles with collars (about 3.5 lbs. when put together), eight 2.5 lb. weights, and four 1.5 lb. weights. The plates fit on the dumbbells quite easily, and the nut-like collars ensure that they won't fall off.

I am very happy with these weights. It is quick and easy to change the weight of each dumbbell, and when it is together, it stays together, rather than the plates rotating and threatening to unscrew the collars. Also, the plastic container holds the plates and handles nicely and when the pieces are stowed away, it makes a nice small package for storage.

I have had these weights for a year now, and am quite happy with them. If you or someone you know wants to do some light weightlifting to get back into shape, then I highly suggest that you get this set. Looks great and works great!

I purchased this set for my 15 yr. old son. He absolutely loves it.
It is compact with the case and uses very little storage space. He loves it because after completing his work out he can pack it away in the sleek case.

Shipping was a little slow and when I received it, it didn't bring the storage case. the shipping box was broken because of the weight and the post office had to rig it. Very dissapointed because I bought this so it could be stored under my son's bed. Also the set was not the one advertise on the picture and I received a plastic set which it is cheaper that the one advertised.

I bought these weights a while ago and they are fantastic! They are easy to use and you can adjust the weight to suit your training.

my only comlaint is that shipping is expensive for this item.. it cost a total of $118 but it was worth it!

This weight set is good for its parts or in conjunction with more weight plates but not as a stand alone weight set because you only get 30lbs of weight plates. The manufacturer claims that each dumbbell handle with its screw clamps is 5 lbs but I weighted it and each dumbbell handle with both screw clamps weights only 3lbs 9oz so total weight you get is 37.125 lbs (Not 40 lbs).

PROS:
-High quality metal plates (they have a very durable finish). Metal plates are much better (and more expensive) than vinyl cement plates, and these are extremely high quality metal plates
-The dumbbell handles are actually very high quality unlike what some have said (they even include the washers)
-It is standard 1" threading so interchangeable with other sets
-The box is nice marketing plus (but but doesn't add much unless you plan on storing them away after each use)

CONS:
-You only get 30lbs in plates
-The plates have a "cute" round design but are also thicker than other plates of comparative weight taking up more space on threading meaning you can add less plates overall
-The manufacturer misleads and uses false advertising (even with handles, total weight is only 37.125 lbs, NOT 40 lbs)
-There is not enough weight to make this your one and only dumbbell set (you have to buy several of these or pick up additional plates at the store)

OVERALL: It's a good set at a good price but you would have to buy more than one or buy more separate plates to really make use of this. Also, the manufacturer is deceptive since they do not actually add up to 40 lbs.

In all honesty, it's pretty hard to get a dumbbell set wrong, you have some metal bars and weights. And this set has worked very well for me so far.

Like all other dumbbell sets, as you use the weights the end-screws tend to get loose after repeated use. But really this is no big deal at all, at least not for me. Overall I am pleased, the set I got was perfectly complete. I got all the weights, case, bars and end-screws. And the case itself is Ok, it's a little hard to constantly undo the snap-on clip each and every time you use these, so unless you are moving the case every time you workout, it's probably better to just leave it unlatched. But when it is latched it feels very solid and has a nice handle for carrying. Plus the whole case takes up very little room, so storage space is not likely to be a problem.

If you search the net, you will find TONS of dumbbell exercise you can do for every part of your body. I found it fun trying out all the different methods and looking for new ones. And let me tell you, I got REALLY sore with these weights doing some exercises I found on the net. You will not become a Olympic bodybuilder using these, but for the average-Joe that just wants to tone up, these will do the trick.

Overall a great set that works just as well as any other dumbbell set with the added bonus of a storage case! I can't speak for everybody else, but I don't believe I had any problems with shipping when I originally purchased this, however it has been a few years since I got it (2009).
