I first came across Swedish pianist Jonathan Fritzen in 2008 when I discovered his debut album "Love Birds" which had some great tracks and showed lots of promise and lots of potential. Less than 12 months later Jonathan has produced his sophomore album "VIP" which is a little funkier and features more up tempo tracks than his debut. With the option of downloading only tracks that you like it takes a lot for me to buy a CD these days and I have set myself a guide of only buying a CD if I really like more than half the album. In this instance I like every track but one. The CD only appears to be available through Amazon US, which is a shame because it may slip through the net and not be heard by many smooth jazz fans who I know will love it. When it was first released, it sold out on Amazon within a couple of days and when it came back into stock it sold out again the same day! Listen to the longer sound bites on [...] and then buy the CD - you will not be disappointed. I cannot praise this album enough, it is quite simply brilliant and it will be my smooth jazz album of the year 2009. Move over Brian Culbertson - there's a new kid on the block.

I'm a BIG Brian Culpertson fan! If you love Brian you'll love this guy! I heard him on the cable smooth jazz station. The whole CD is great. Its nice to buy a CD with more than 2 songs that are quality. I'm extremely pleased. So pleased I bought his prior album "Love Birds."

He's a talented artist. I will definitely buy his next CD without hesisitation.

Fritzen is a promising new talent. His previous album was missing something, and he found it with VIP. This is new age jazz. The synth sounds are subtle and cool. Guy knows how to play piano well.

Can't wait for the next one.

This cd is ridiculously good. he reminds me of brian culbertson. Please keep it up Jonathan!!!! This is by far the best jazz cd of the year!

I am a big smooth Jazz fan, Brian Culbertson, Brian Simpson, Peter White. I have them all. I heard Johnathan Fritzen the other night for the first time. The track Dance with ME from his Diamonds cd was astonishing, and I was blown away. So much so, I immeaditely purchased and downloaded the cd once I got home. To my amazement, every track was great. It is very rare to find a cd like this. Johnathan is truely a gifted and talented artist. I plan to purchase his previous 2 CD VIP and Love Birds. From the reviews I have read, I am excited to listen to any and all tracks from this great Artist. Keep up the excelent work Johnathan. Looking forward to your next project.

Jonathan Fritzen may be fairly new to the smooth jazz scene, but he is already a master. This is one of the best cds I've listened to in a while. I look forward to more music fron Jonathan. Happy listening.

I can not gety enough of this cd! I hope he makes more like this one because this cd is jamming and if likr Brian Culbertson your going to love this!

I AM A BIG FAN OF SMOOTH JAZZ. I ENJOY SAX,GUITAR,AND PIANO. WHEN I CAME ACROSS JONATHANS CD VIP I SAMPLED IT AND THOUGHT IT WAS WORTH THE PURCHASE. BUT ONCE I GOT IT I SAID WOW. USUALLY I FIND MYSELF LIKING MOST OF THE SONGS ON THE CD'S TODAY BUT NOT ALL OF THEM. I AM HERE TO SAY UNTIL I HEARD JONATHAN PLAY. THE ENTIRE CD IS VERY GOOD FROM THE FIRST CUT TO THE LAST. IF YOU ENJOY PIANO SMOOTH JAZZ STYLE AND VERY EASY LISTENING YOU WILL LOVE THIS CD. I AM SO IMPRESSED I AM GOING TO ORDER HIS FIRST CD CALLED LOVE BIRDS. YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED TO HEAR THIS CD FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. IF YOU ONLY BUY 1 JAZZ CD THIS YEAR JONATHAN IS THE ONE YOU WANT.

Jonathan Fritzen is without a trace of a doubt the rising star in the smooth jazz firmament. His first album "Love Birds" was a promisory debut with great songs ("Like a Star", "One night with you" among others) but "VIP" is an absolut, positive and definitive confirmation of an awesome artist in the making. His new material exudes nothing but world class talent. From the title track in the beginnig to the last one, Jonathan displays a high level of musicianship. "VIP" is an excellent track that counts with gifted guitarman Jay Soto as Fritzen counterpart. Smooth jazz superstar Michael Lington also adds his brilliant sax to "Fading away" but I can't overlook all the beautiful songs where less known names but gifted musicians contribute to this great album: vocalist Laila Adele, guitarrist Alexander Kronbrink, saxman Greger Hillman and others of equal talent round up an outstanding work. This cd is a total auditive experience if you really appreciate the quality of the production (top notch)and the exquisite Jonathan's style. It's a "must" for the smooth jazz lover and a five stars for any reviewer. Congrats Jonathan!

This CD is awesone, my wife and I love it.. You can tell the similaties with Brain Culbertson, and that is a high comparison in my book.. Smooth Jazz is reaping rewards on this CD..........
