A good quality for what it is, economy unit, it will significantly improve the sound quality over your built in TV speakers. It is a quick and very easy set up.

However, If you want "near" surround sound quality as opposed to just improving the sound over the TV speakers you need to get a more advanced model.

The sound is very good with deep bass and nice volume but... It has a pronounced a/c hum that is very noticeable at higher volumes. I was disappointed in the refurbishing

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
It would have never crossed my mind to invest in a sound bar, I have always found the TV speakers were fine for 80% of my viewing, and the Denon surround system was more than adequate for the rest. So a low end compromise like this was interesting to explore.

And to realize, in the end, it could serve a far better purpose than trying to enhance a system not really in that much need.

One thing that was not refurbished was the box; the original Vizio plain brown box and egg crate inside supports clearly had a few miles on them, but then the shipping box did as well, if selling "refurbished" items is going to catch on I would think a little better presentation is in order. The owner's manual looked like a 3rd generation scan of an enlarged copy of a quick-start guide.

My first impression was that the sound was improved, but not by a very large factor. The ability to easily add a sub-woofer improves it's role as a go-between audio solution, but this too has drawbacks. As I played with balance and bias I began to appreciate some improvement. 2 inputs makes it extremely simple to attach an external device without getting involved in the surround system or an aux in to the TV.

The Vizio is definitely low end, but I have few complaints. The controls atop the unit are small and almost impossible to see, due both to the way they blend into the case so well, but most likely any installation you may end up choosing. Hence the remote, which is also somewhat hard to see, it's thin, glossy black and not terribly well marked. It's assumed once you get it dialed in, you would use the TV control for audio, despite the fact using the Vizio remote could lend more flexibility to the use of the speaker.

The sound bar quality certainly met and exceeded my expectations. It brought a rich fullness to my Samsung flat screen and surrounded me with rich quality of sound.

Well worth the price I paid.

Thanks

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I tried this with Pandora Radio streaming through a first-generation Roku player on my Vizio TV. I listened to a few classic rock/pop songs to get a sense of what it sounded like compared to my almost 20 year-old Sony bookshelf stereo system. It definitely didn't put out the full sound of even the little 10 inch speakers with tiny subwoofers. However, it was certainly an improvement over the built-in speakers on my 32" TV.

This is a fine replacement for your TV's speakers if you're on a budget. However, if you can afford it and if you have the space you should seriously consider even a bookshelf system. Even a low-end 5.1 system is going to sound better than this does.

I will say that this is certainly an attractive product. I also suspect that if you connect a subwoofer you will have much better sound. It does have a connection for a sub, so do consider that as well.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I currently have a "big screen" Vizio sound bar in the living room and love it. I got this for my den where I have a home theatre set up with an Epson 1080p projector set up. The sound on this is not as good as the Vizio I already have, but it's still decent for its size and price.

My biggest problem is that it doesn't have an optical input. This is kind of annoying since any decent home theatre is going to be running an optical audio line.

Still, for $50, it's not too shabby.

Sound Bar gives much improved sound over stock speakers in flat-screen TV. Not perfect, but what do you expect for a refurbished item. I have two gripes; first is that AmazonBasics suggested that I needed the Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable - 6 Feet (1.8 Meters) to make this work. There is no Digital Optical Audio port on the VSB207-B sound bar, and the unit comes with a stock 3.5 mm to RCA plug cord to hook up to your TV's audio output. Second is the persistant 60 hertz hum that is audable when the unit and TV is on. Very anoying but what do you expect for $40 dollars. Over all very happy with my new sound bar, gives a much needed audio boost in volume and sound quality.
