Worth the money, but you get what you pay for,
This review is from: VIZIO VW32LHDTV40A 32-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
This TV is perfect for those who just want to get with current technology, and want a decent sized, and compact TV.
You will definitely see a picture improvement over traditional television, and the picture looks very good for bright pictures (ie sports games, most television shows). Picture clarity is pretty good, the artifacts are pretty minimal. What this TV is severly lacking in, is depth of color. Don't listen to other reviews that say "it's just as good as higher priced televisions," because it's not. This is very noticable in low light levels, the colors get very washed out, to a disappointing degree. The sound is not bad, a lot of the lower priced flat planel speakers sound very tinny. Its speakers sound worse than higher quality sets, but are still pretty tolerable. All in all you get what you pay for. This TV isn't garbage but it's not going to win any awards. If you are looking for a TV to watch football on Sunday in hi-def this is the television for you. If you are a gamer, or a movie enthusiast with a blu-ray player, save up your money and go with a higher quality television, as you will find the depth of color on this television a bit disappointing.

Vizio 32" HDTV,

This review is from: VIZIO VW32LHDTV40A 32-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
I've owned this set for over a year now & I'm about 97% satisfied with it. It has great picture quality. The price was unbelievable. It was much cheaper than many of the other "known" brand names. It has two HDMI ports, it has two connections for accessory components (red, blue & green hook ups), RGB monitor connection (works well with my laptop though I do have to change the resolution because I only have VGA available on laptop), 2 AV connections & 1 cable connect.
The Vizio has worked well with cable & has done well with an inside external antenna. Every now & then I get digital trash or pixelization. This occurs more when I use the antenna. I'm not able to get great reception at times even with an antenna that has a power boost feature. I also suspect that this product might have a low refresh rate. I use a Philips DVD player (no HDMI) that has a great picture during playback. The one drawback I have here ( I have no experience with other models in this regard to TV or DVD) is that there's a major drop in volume when playing DVD. This difference can amount to more than 30 points at times. I've only had to go on line once for customer service, it did take some time. The end result was satisfactory but was time consuming. The bottom line is this: This Vizio HDTV is toward the bottom end as far as "gadgetry" is concerned but when I compare the value & price I paid for it, I am very satisfied.

An important note for vizio vw32lhdtv40a Owners,

I Thought I would mention, since my owners manual did not, the 40a versions of this TV now have a vesa 100x100 pattern for wall mounting. This makes things incredibly cheaper for mounting solutions. The Manual does not mention this, only the old non-vesa 420x200 pattern which forced us to buy way expensive mounts for such a light 32 pounds or so, television. Hope this helps. BTW I used a Sanus model ml22 to mount mine. It was $69.00, mounted beautifully.

Has Broken 4 Times in Under 2 Years,
By Emily (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VIZIO VW32LHDTV40A 32-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
This TV broke within 6 months of purchase. They replaced parts twice, replaced it on the third time it broke and now THE FOURTH time BROKE AGAIN, all under two year; my Visio TV has broken 4 times in under 2 years. It will not even turn on so you can't even watch a DVD, play game - NOTHING. The 3 technicians that have come out to date, said it was a common problem and that they would never buy one. And to boot, the customer service reps had horrible attitudes when I have spoken to them.

Great Value for a great price of $389.00,

I read many reviews of this TV and I have to say, that unless you are a techo geek, you should have no problem with this set. The sound quality is above average for a 2X 10w speakers. I find no need for any extra sound equipment. I have this set hooked up to a standard cable box(Cablevision Optimum on LI NY). Picture is fine. I am holding off getting an upgrade to a HI DEF box until I see what it looks like after the Feb 17th upgrade to digital broadcast. The only small drawback (con) is when I play a DVD that is letterbox, there is no full screen option with this model so you still have to two black bars on the screen. But now for the the big PRO for this model..I found this model at my local COSTCO in store purchase for $389.99 !!! You just can't complain. I am very happy with this purchase. I will try to update after Feb 17th and give an update as to the picture quality after the Feb 17th changeover to digital broadcast.

No... but seriously.... It's a great deal with a comparable picture to all the other main players in the HDTV market. I purchased mine from Sears about two years ago, and it's worked perfectly... Games look sharp, movies come to life and paying for a high def package is worth it. Hey it's simple math... WHY pay up to 1200.00 when you can pay 600 and get pretty much the same thing... Unless your're one of those people that has to have every thing sinked up. Bravia tv, ps3, sony reciever etc..... Hey, with the money saved, you can purchase one of those all in one remotes!

This product was the second Vizio brand HDTV I bought for my house, and the quality is great throughout. I got this at Walmart for 597 about two months ago and have not had a single problem.
The TV has two HDMI outputs, and supports up to 1080i. For under 600 dollars this HDTV has the size, resolution, and quality of a great purchase.

I had never heard of this brand before I started looking to buy. Everyone gave it a rave review, even my cable guy. I have had it for a year, and never a problem. Great picture. I'm looking for a bigger one now.

Great Tv for Cost,
This review is from: VIZIO VW32LHDTV40A 32-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
THis is an incredible TV for the price. You can get it at costo for 399$. The quality is incredible for 720p. It hooks right up to my PS3, home theater system and my cable box. The manual is easy to look at. I could not recommend any other TV for this price and size. IF you are on a budget, even if you are not, and your looking for a good size tv get this. My brother and I have it on a wall mount which makes it seem every bigger than it really is.

Very impressed - just some minor complaints,

One thing I noticed right away with this LCD HDTV, is the packaging is well-designed. Usually, if the manufacturer puts some thought into the packaging, the product is pretty good too. The set was very easy to set up, and the stand is substantial and well-engineered. I like the simple remote control - just the bare minimum number of buttons needed 99.9% of the time. And you can stand the remote vertical on its nose to save space. There is a wide array of signal inputs that will solve most situations, but there are not front-panel inputs, so a quick hookup of a camcorder or video game isn't quick; you have to plug it in the back. The picture is just wonderful; I haven't needed to adjust any settings, but there are a plethora of settings to adjust if need be.
My only quibbles are the buttons on the set itself (located on the right edge of the unit) are not labeled, at least where you can see what button does what, but I guess you could memorize whether the power button is the top or the bottom button. Also, the On-screen menu has 4 or 5 main menu items, but to switch among those main items is kinda tricky; seems you have to select a sub-item on the default main item then hit "last", then "up-arrow", or something like that! The manual is very thorough, but there are the occasional awkward phrases here and there to let you know a native English speaker didn't review the manual. |
