5.0 out of 5 stars Great 37 inch LCD at 32 inch prices
If your like me, I wanted an HDTV without paying a fortune, and this is the one to get. Under $600 at Walmart in Nov. 08. I had a Comcast tech hook up my HD box and this TV was accepting the 1080i signal even though the ad says 720p. The picture looks like a bright and vibrant professionally taken photograph! No complaints. What I really liked is sometimes the HD signal...

1.0 out of 5 stars Vizio poor support
I purchased 2 directly from Vizio. They arrived 3 weeks later and one was not damaged. Their customer support division is poorly managed. I had to take a picture of the TV and e-mail it to them. It then took several days for them to get in touch with me. The TV was picked up 1 week later and after waiting nearly a month they refused to send out another TV "because it...

I had a Comcast tech hook up my HD box and this TV was accepting the 1080i signal even though the ad says 720p. The picture looks like a bright and vibrant professionally taken photograph! No complaints. What I really liked is sometimes the HD signal will cut off the bottom and top of the picture but the VISIO has an easy menu that quickly allows you to adjust the vertical size without distorting the picture so you can always watch a full screen. Sound quality is pretty good with the built in speakers but would be awesome with a surround sound system. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with the purchase of this HDTV. Nice looking TV too! Remote is simply laid out, user friendly and functional without being overly complicated. This is the VW37L model which is the newest offering from VISIO. I am a happy HDTV camper!

5.0 out of 5 stars First HDTV - WOW!, June 26, 2009
This review is from: VIZIO VW37LHDTV40A 37-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
I'm a big techie, but this is my first HDTV.

This is only 720P, but in stores and for the size I cannot tell a quality difference. Period. Setup was easy, play around with the settings to tweak it all to your liking. TONS of inputs/outputs. Search Amazon for a cheap HDMI cable - it'll work perfectly.

I dunno the big deal with Blu Ray, I think it's overhyped. I have a cheapo Phillips DVD player with HDMI (it also upscans and plays divx/xvid!) - pop in Wall-E or some other beautiful movie and WOW.

Wait for blu ray to be under $100 and standard. Until then, save your money, buy this, and save some money...

It then took several days for them to get in touch with me. The TV was picked up 1 week later and after waiting nearly a month they refused to send out another TV "because it was a sale item". Instead they ignored e-mails and did not return calls. The other TV that works is average at best. I guess the old saying "you get what you paid for" is right on!! Suggest staying away from Vizio products until they learn how to take care of their customers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Turns itself off all the time, April 5, 2010

Total headache! Now on second replacement from Vizio. From the first few days we had it, the TV turned itself off all the time. Vizio sent out a repair crew, but the repair did not fix the problem. Vizio sent us a second unit per the warranty, and the second TV had the same problem. In fact, it turned itself off within the first 20 minutes. Am now on the third unit, another new one direct from Vizio, and it also turns itself off. All three incarnations of this model turned themselves off ALL THE TIME. We moved the TVs around to different outlets & cable connections, and they had the same problem in all locations. We have wasted so much time on the phone dealing with Vizio, not to mention unpacking replacements and repacking faulty units, transporting the boxes to UPS and shipping the bad units back... I would be happy to get a full refund and buy another brand of TV. Oh, and it takes 15-20 seconds for the TV to turn on when you power it on. The customer support staff at Vizio say that's normal. Not recommended at all, unless you get it for free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Value, April 15, 2009
This review is from: VIZIO VW37LHDTV40A 37-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
This Vizio hdtv is an outstanding value and will provide the average consumer with a very satisfying viewing experience. Connected tv to existing whole house antenna system to receive over the air television and picture looks great. Programming menu to adjust picture, color etc was intuitive and simple. Remote control is wonderfully simple in its design and function. This 37" hdtv is an excellent value and will be a welcome upgrade to anyone looking to replace an analog set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good low-cost set, but lacks a few things, November 28, 2009

I've had this set almost a week. It has a very good picture - colors are bright. The sound with the built-in speakers is very good - one of the best I've heard. The remote control has nice rockers for the channel and volume. These feel like high-quality switches for the most-frequently used buttons and will last a long time - very impressive. It has plenty of inputs.

Its cost is low and it lacks a few things. It lacks analog sound outputs (it has neither phono jack outputs or a headphone jack), although it does have digital optical sound output. The remote control lacks a set of "favorites".

The biggest drawback is that there is no easy way to change from normal aspect to wide aspect. All other sets I've seen have a button on the R/C to easily switch between several choices. This set has only two choices (normal/wide) and you have to go through the menu to access it - very difficult. This means that if you use the normal setting to have the correct aspect ratio, some programs have black bars at the top and bottom and there is no easy way to make it fit your screen efficiently.

Inputs:
2 HDMI, the second one includes audio phono jack inputs
1 RGB PC, including 1/8" jack for the sound
2 Component
1 composite/S-video (including audio)
1 coax

Output:
1 digital optical output (SPDIF).
no headphone output jack or audio phono output jacks

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Me!, January 16, 2010
This review is from: VIZIO VW37LHDTV40A 37-Inch Class HD 720 p HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Use this unit with standard cable t.v. programming and TiVo service, also use it with a Wii. Set it up by myself( technically challenged female) to cable and TiVo (isues with setting it up with TiVo but that was on TiVo's end not due to the t.v.) works very well for our needs. I have this t.v. in a fairly large living area and think due to the recent addition of the wii I would have considered the 1080p unit. Have had NO issues with it in the 2 years I have owned it. User friendly and Great value!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly easy to use, good picture, better sound than expected, January 8, 2010

Very easy set up. The TV is about as plug-and-play as you can find.

The overall value of this tv is great for a medium sized HD TV. The picture is great. No complaints there.

The speakers on the tv are what really surprised me. Very good quality. I tested them with the Quantum of Solace preview and it was great.

The remote is simple and has just what you need on it. Navigating the on screen tv menu is pretty easy.

We are using the stand that came with the tv and it was easy to set up. All you need is a screwdriver to instal 4 screws that connect the stand to the tv.

The only thing I don't like about the tv is a visual thing. On the front at the bottom where the speakers are. Instead of being flush and straight across, the speakers sort of invert on themselves and go in toward the back of the screen. It's not a big deal but I wish it was just clean and straight across.

The packaging was secure and the tv arrived undamaged, which is always good.

Over all I am very happy with the tv and consider it a good deal.
