5.0 out of 5 stars Nice combination bike computer
I was looking for 3 things in a new computer: night capability, built in HR monitor, & no wireless (I long ago lost patience with the many issues that I've run into with wireless). This seemed to be one the very few that qualifies. It appears to be a solid, high quality product that works very well. At first, however, I was about to return it, as I thought the night light...

3.0 out of 5 stars Vetta VL110HR HD HR SmartLite Cycling Computer
This item does what it is supposed to do...however, it is very slow to start. It takes about 10 seconds rolling before the stopwatch starts to move or the MPH begins to register. I have 1/10 mile measured with a steel tape on the road in front of my house. I use this to calibrate items such as this more accurately than measuring the front wheel or using a chart. This...

I was looking for 3 things in a new computer: night capability, built in HR monitor, & no wireless (I long ago lost patience with the many issues that I've run into with wireless). This seemed to be one the very few that qualifies. It appears to be a solid, high quality product that works very well. At first, however, I was about to return it, as I thought the night light function was defective (thinking it would be a constant illumination during the preset hours). It turns out that anytime you press button 4 the light comes on for 3 seconds. During the smartlight hours (chosen during setup), the light comes on for 3 seconds when any button is pressed. So it's not a constant source of light. But it served my purpose reasonably well, and I'm sure a constant light would kill the battery pretty fast. The included HR strap is very comfortable, & works with all my other HR monitors. Curiously, their HR straps do not work with the Vetta. It was straightforward to install & setup. We will have to see how it holds up.

This slow start made it very difficult to calibrate.

not much time right now. I just got this as a replacement for one that was killed by too much rain, however it lasted for over 10,000 miles. However, this one does NOT do temperature. This is crucial for me as I am doing a fundraiser and record weather conditions year round. I paid for overnight shipping, which worked great, but nw i need to find a thermometer that can handle temps below 0° F as the previous Vetta could. For the money, this should have included the temp. I really do not care about the heart rate monitor, but to get one in a hurry that had a light & temp this was the solution...until I got it. I checked the description and it says temp on Amazon, but not on the box or manuals.
