This review is from: VR3 VRPS100 Bumper Guard Parking Sensor (Automotive)
I was in need of parking sensors but didn't like four big holes on the back. So, I bought this taped sensor. It's installed inside bumper and it uses skyrocket technology, magnetic field, wow! It did work at a body shop right after it's installed (did some painting there). I was so happy but it worked only there. On almost all other places it's working way overly. Went to a drugstore and there's nothing on the back and sides for 30 feet at the parking lot. It beeped so hard just like I was in a tight parking space. After several try, I found if the ground is not perfectly flat, the sensors then starts its job.
Now the sensor forgot its function to detect things around my car but to check if the ground is flat or not. I then totally removed it and installed regular sonar sensors with 4 ugly holes on the back. Finally, they worked as backup sensors supposed to be.
When majority people and car manufacturers don't use something, you'd better not to try it.

VR3 bumper sensor review, March 31, 2008
OK - I finally decided to give it a try to order this item for $48 (shipped). I uninstall the bumper and temporary taped the antenna inside the bumper while it's off the SUV. To test both sides and the range distance are decried as from the instruction. BUT, after I installed it back to the car, the test range was reduced a lot. It started slow beeps as 15", fast beeps in 6", continuous beep in 3". I made sure both sides are also detected any objects if the car straight back; in fact, it will beeps if there is an object close enough to the sides like 4" - it's good, so I won't damage my side mirror!
The installation is simple; once I found the reverse light wire, which required take off a side panels! The beeper is very loud first but it's just about right once the engine startup and the road noise around. One good thing is it will ignore the tow hitch (object) that fixed on it, so no wrong beeping here!
Update - I've found it won't detect a plastic trashcan at all! Lucky, it won't scratch the bumper. It will also detected the water when I back it up w/ the boat trailer to the lake, I'll stop when I hear the continuous beep, the water level just below the muffler. Without this device, I was told some boat owners had back to the lake until the water get in the car's trunk!

Very good, for the price, August 28, 2011
This review is from: VR3 VRPS100 Bumper Guard Parking Sensor (Automotive)
The product actually works, but the range of detection is shorter than I expected, but it's ok with me, because I am using it in combination with a reverse camera. The detection range could be affected by the metallic crash bar that my car has behind the rear bumper... according to the installation instrucctions, of similar products, that I have read on several websites.
The sensor also gives false alarms when I am in any slope, but it's ok with me, because I can check if there's any obstacle with the camera. I just wanted the sensor to alert me when I am not watching the camera or when there's poor ligth outside, because in the past I have scratched the rear bumper of my car twice, because I was not focused on the picture of the parking camera.
