It stands, but the slightest bump and it falls over.

Seems to be very well made - it has the look and feel of real leather (not that plastic feel and smell like other cheap cases).

Bluetooth keyboard never charged and doesn't turn on.

Reading some other reviews talking about the metal tab possibly scratching the screen and the magnets possibly messing with the pen input, I decided to go for it anyway. I got the black and red one since I thought the white one looked weird with a black tablet in it, but the all black one was a little too boring. The only option was the black and red.

The case seems well constructed and fits my Asus Vivo Tab Note 8 perfectly. The flip cover is a bit stiff out of the box, but it has softened up over the last few weeks. The very first thing I did was peel off the metal tab per another reviewers worry that it would scratch the screen. You loose a little bit of the magnetic power doing this, but it still holds closed well.

There's really very little to dislike about this case/cover. The only thing I don't like is how they show it standing upright in the picture. It's simply false advertising. Given that, I strongly considered giving this only 3 stars, but because it's otherwise a really solid case, 4 starts it is.

It is possible to stand it up by rolling the cover inward, so the felt grey is on the inside ans carefully pertching the inner hinge on the outer lip. It stands, but the slightest bump and it falls over. The other way. LIKE IN THE PICTURE, it simply will NOT stand up. There's nothing for the cover to grip to, to stand it up.

Even with that, I wanted something that protected my awesome little tablet but at the time of this writing, it's the only non-portfolio style case available and I'm otherwise happy with it.

Update Posted 2014/05/26:
OK so I noticed that the bottom of the cover closest to the tablet itself actually has a magnet in it. I noticed it when a paperclip stuck to it. "Huh?" I thought.

The Asus Tab 8 is now my wife's and I wanted her to protect it. However, because the tablet was so new, it took quite a while to find this cover. I read some of the reviews, and there was trepidation about the magnetic clasp, and without seeing it, I wasn't sure that the holes for the Wacom stylus, on/off, volume, and mini-SDHC port would be in the right place.

There was no need to worry. The holes are in the right places (the SDHC port is covered when the case is closed, but easily accessible once opened). The magnet had had no effect whatsoever on the stylus. The case is comfortable and not at all bulky. And it does protect the screen. A five star product.

This review is for the Vivotab Note 8 case; for some reason Amazon has mixed up reviews for various cases. The case seems well constructed and fits nicely. However, the magnetic closure, while nice and strong, apparently messes up the detection of the active stylus, because you are not able to write on the screen in the region near the magnets. (This is a separate issue from the normal loss of detection very near to the edges.) Unfortunately this makes the case useless if you intend to use the Note 8 for taking notes with the stylus.

Pros: The case fits the VTN8 securely

Cons: The two magnets on the lower right side affect the pen accuracy and function.

Overall I like this case. just be aware that using the upper right corner (in landscape) or lower right corner (in portrait) will be difficult to select, move, double click, etc due to the magnets. I removed the tablet from the case and the corners worked as expected.

Case does everything it said it would do. Many folks have complained about magnetic interference from the case on the screen. It seems the manufacturer has modified the case since it was first launched since my case had no magnets in contact with the tablet...so hence no interference. The only magnets I found in the case were on the opposing cover to hold the keyboard in place. Even when I took the keyboard off and folded back the opposing cover to it was now at the back of the tablet I still didn't get any noticeable interference when using the stylus.

While the case, keyboard and tablet on their own aren't very thick when combined the whole package gets a bit bulky compared to if you just had a more common flip/flop back case. The whole package actually feels more day planner/diary in size and weight. The actual feel of the material the case is covered in is pretty nice, think high quality synthetic leather. The keyboard pairs easily and once you've paired it all you need to do it turn it on when you turn on the tablet and it'll be ready to use. There is no visible on light to remind the keyboard is on so there is the possibility you may shut down the tab and leave the keyboard on quiet easily. I haven't used the keyboard for long enough in a single period to testify about it's battery longevity, I have used it for up to 30mins already though without it dying.

This case is not perfect. There are three complaints I have about the case. On the very first time I used the keyboard while filling out an online application form using firefox when entering values into a number field for some odd reason the 2 button failed and kept imputing the number 2 continuously. I has to close the browser, turn off the keyboard and resort to using the on screen keyboard to finish the form.
