5.0 out of 5 stars I love this phone!
I've used this phone since it first came out.

First I like V-Tech because their battery life is longer. I've bought non-brandname batteries, when I could no longer get them from V-Tech, and in the V-Tech phone, they just last longer than all the other 2.4 GHz phones I've used.

(I used to live 2 clocks from Fry's electronics, and tried ALL the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, poor implementation
We've been very happy with our VTech 2431 single-line 2.4MHz

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, poor implementation, December 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: VTech 40-2421 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Expandable Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
We've been very happy with our VTech 2431 single-line 2.4MHz
phone system for the past few years, so now that we have
three lines this looked like just the right thing.
Unfortunately this system appears to have been designed by a
completely different team. The handsets are very large (too
large to fit into a pocket), the menus are more difficult to
use, the speed-dial feature is extremely clumsy, and the
signal quality is very poor, with lots of hissing in the
background. We've sent this one back and replaced it with a
two-line VTech 20-2431 system, which is much more like the
original 2431 and doesn't suffer from the problems of the
40-2421 series.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this phone!, September 19, 2006
This review is from: VTech 40-2421 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Expandable Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
I've used this phone since it first came out.

First I like V-Tech because their battery life is longer. I've bought non-brandname batteries, when I could no longer get them from V-Tech, and in the V-Tech phone, they just last longer than all the other 2.4 GHz phones I've used.

(I used to live 2 clocks from Fry's electronics, and tried ALL the 2.4 gigahertz phones they carried that (a) took a headset and (b) had a mute button on the handset.

Also, this is one of the few phones, and few V-Tech phones, that still has a MUTE button on the handset! (just just on the control box...who wants to walk back to their desk to clear their throat?)

No need to have phone plugs established in every room! Yay! Wherever you have electricity, within a reasonable distance from the base unit, this phone works!

I prefer buying my own wraparound headsets, even though they seem to come in these boxes now.

By the way, use only the 40-2420 as additional handsets. There is a 2420 (stupidly enough) that doesn't work on a four-line phone!

Don't point the antennae "up" unless you've tried it and it gives you better reception. My experience is that lessens the quality.

Good idea to plug the base unit into your battery backup.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent for a small business, January 8, 2007

We run a four person business and have used this system for three years. We have had to replace batterys, (it starts to hiss and life is measured in minutes) but battery replacement is what I would expect for an office cordless. We use the hold features and the intercom / call transfer all day long. While this is not an inexpensive phone, I found nothing comparable in the four line offerings. We currently have five handsets and will continue to add more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Home Office, January 25, 2009
By
This review is from: VTech 40-2421 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Expandable Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
I have been using this unit since it came out. I worked flawlessly in my old house. I moved to a larger, older home and coverage is not as good. I am considering buying another unit to see if they will both work and overlap.

This system really works well, but could conflict with home wireless systems.
