4.0 out of 5 stars My toddler loves it, I wish I never bought it :(, November 15, 2008

First I would like to say. Yes, he loves it. Yes, it's exceptionally educational (even teaches commas, quotations, question marks ect...) If I were a small I child I would love this thing to, but as an adult. Oh My Gosh. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Annoying. My son is 3 and has been able to read since the age of 2 (no exaggeration, would correct me if I misspoke during any of his dr seuss stories even before he could speak). So, when I saw this at Target the other night I knew he would love it.

Let me forewarn the parents about to buy this for their kids.

The books are around 20 pages long with endless activities. But, did they include headphones so I wouldn't have to hear it OVER and OVER again. No. Also, they have censored the name part. My sons name is Warren, We can't put it in because the first three letters spell WAR. Seriously. Apparently War is a bad word in the 21st century. We just put in our last name and the little guy is happy with that.

Caution, it's very addictive, I've resorted to hiding it on him and telling him that Mickey needs to rest.

Overall, extremely entertaining and educational product for children. But for parents.... I pray that if you buy it, you have a large enough house where you won't have to hear it all day long.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but I can't enter my kids name!, December 30, 2008

Our two boys, who are 4 yrs old and 2 yrs old, got this for Christmas. They also got several of the books, which is great because they got a similar item a couple of years ago and now all the books are discontinued.

They love it and it's very easy to use. Our 4 year old is doing just great and our 2 year old (even though he can't read yet) has a great time picking his story.

The real problem we have is that it won't let us type in our 2 year old's name. Like the other review here, our son's name is Christian. We can enter "Chris" but it won't let us enter a T. This is pretty inexcusable. Who is VTech (or Disney) to say what we can or cannot spell for the name? And the only time it's used is when the story first opens there's a screen that says, "Story by (name)". It doesn't actually speak the name or show it anywhere else. I mean, who cares if some kid without adult supervision writes something they aren't supposed to. So, apparently my son will never be able to write his name because VTech wants to parent every little thing. I think that's pretty rotten.

By the way, if Christ did come to our house, who's VTech to say he can't write his own name???? :)
